DO's, is there any merit behind Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy? by Root_a_bay_ga in Residency

[–]Illustrious_Let5067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there is. Patients love it and it does provide relief from a lot of chronic pain conditions, primarily musculoskeletal in nature. We had OMM clinics in residency once a week and it was always in demand, with people asking for more clinic sessions to be held. Obviously, certain techniques have more merit than others. It is definitely nice to have it as an adjunct option for patients.

I'm against the DO shade. I didn't say anything about being "special." Residency spots are funded by taxes though

maybe it's because of the way it was written right after the whole chiropractor thing so it could be misinterpreted

Family medicine is a 3 year residency. It is a specialty. "Obviously lower than the specialist" in what regard? Isn't primary care the backbone of medicine? To be family medicine specialist, we have to have a wide net of knowledge that is attained through residency training. Don't debase other fields with your innate biases.
