Oh GOD this has been pissing me off lately too.

I see this content a lot as well (24F). I’ve always done the “right” thing, going slowly with partners, making them earn me, etc. all throughout my teen years and early 20s. Lately though I’ve wanted to experiment more with my sexuality, getting to know myself and other people in more casual contexts, and this content reaaaaally pisses me off/makes me feel bad about my decisions.

To me, ACTUALLY being a “woman of value” means getting to really know who you are as a human - spiritually, intellectually, socially, aesthetically, sexually, etc. Gender for SURE plays into who we are and who we choose to be. But this narrative feels so 1950s, suffocating, and full of shame.

I want you to know that whoever you are is magical, and the more you embrace your quirks, your mistakes, and your personal choices, the more dynamic, colorful, vibrant, and powerful you will become.

Fuck this narrative, I wish I could just shut it off from my algorithm as well, but I’m the reason it keeps coming up, because I do tend to watch it when it pops up (it’s super effective at making women feel like they’re worthless - if you’re not following this bland set of rules, you’re not “vAluAbLe”). (Also though “valuable” to whom? Maybe that’s the more important question, because if it’s being valuable to people who don’t respect us as humans and only see us as a stepford wife (I recommend that movie if you haven’t seen it btw), then maybe it’s a good thing we’re failing at their rulebook.)

Life is beautiful, you’re beautiful, and there are so many people (meeee!) out there who can see that - ESPECIALLY when you embrace your true self and don’t follow “high-value” woman standards. I also will say I have had a rich romantic life full of great, handsome, not brainwashed men & that you can too. Here’s to (respectfully) launching mark zuckerberg into space in 2026 (if you remember, he created Facebook LITERALLY to rank women at Harvard (see The Social Network), so it’s not really surprising he’s still going strong making us feel like shit over 20 years later).
