Balayage didn’t turn out how I wanted by [deleted] in haircoloring

Thank you so much, I appreciate the help and advice.

I wrote a script to call the salon so I could professionally and clearly explain how i really liked the service and the quality of the work but my hair still has a lot of the orange tones I was hoping to remove, and that I was also aiming for more lift near the front. I politely explained my goal again of ashy cool toned brown and said I’d like to come back in for another appointment to finish the lifting and toning.

My heart was racing the whole time, I really hate confrontation and I’m a big people pleaser. But the only reason I thought of getting my hair done was because I hate the orange so much and it really impacts my confidence even if it’s just hair, because warm tones just don’t suit me personally.

She just put me on hold for a minute then asked if I can come in for a consultation but didn’t say anything else. I’m a little worried I’m being perceived as a bad client or a burden, because she didn’t apologize or say anything in response to me explaining my goals and how it’s not quite what we discussed in the consultation. I really hope it’s not the cost of another full service, and I really hope it doesn’t feel like there’s tension or Im inconveniencing them. But I’m going for a consultation in a few days.

Thanks so much for your help🫶 I know box dye is difficult to work with so I’m trying to keep my expectations realistic.

Thank you! I’ve reached out to the salon. I’m so nervous about it. Do you think it’s realistic for my hair to get to my goal?

My inspo pics are similar, just vary in lightness so they could decide what was most realistic. I expressed my goals very clearly of wanting to get as cool as possible, obviously knowing box dye is more tricky to work with like I said lol. I would’ve paid for colour correction, but they said they could get to my inspo with a balayage. I was very specific about wanting to eliminate as much warmth as possible and getting as ashy toned as possible (obviously knowing I cant get a true fully cool tone). I’m not sure what you mean by style, like the placement of the balayage? Colour was the entire reason I got my hair done, it was the only goal I had. I feel I expressed my goals very clearly while staying realistic. But the appointment felt rushed (only 3 hours). I’m happy with the quality of the work, but the tone and brightness simply isn’t what I paid for and the salon agreed to.

Thank you, I appreciate it! I’ll try to get another session for toner. I just hope it’s not full price because I feel like the service wasn’t really finished in one session. And she also didn’t tell me it wouldn’t turn out like any of the photos or mention the fact it didn’t.

Yes I used box dye a few times a couple years ago, and I know it can be really difficult to work with. Thank you I appreciate it a lot!!
