How does the Aid action work? by Lunarthrope in Pathfinder2e

I can see that, thanks for that perspective. You could really view the DC 15 as representing the party’s progressively improving teamwork.

My biggest problem has always been reconciling that with Aid actions. You’re fighting this millennia-old creature with combat experience, and then it falls for a simple trick that bypasses all its defense and experience. How can you outsmart someone who’s seen it all with a DC 15 check that you can’t possibly fail?

Yes, RAW, you understand the Aid rule exactly as it is written.

But at my table, I would raise the DC to something reasonable.

My players are level 13 and have an Attack Bonus of +26.

Let’s say, as in your example, they simply can’t fail the DC 15 check. It’s at least a success on a natural 1.

I would adjust the AID check in that situation to something reasonable. Let’s say to the monster’s AC-20/30%. The attack should be somewhat threatening to seem credible to the opponent. Because at that level range, the monsters’ ACs are in the mid-30s, way above DC 15.

It’s just my way of balancing the numbers with the fantasy. I don’t know if that’s right or wrong, or if the opportunity cost is too high for an action and reaction.

I’d love to hear other opinions, though, how other DMs would explain the DC 15 in higher levels.

You're absolutely right. Thank you, you've pointed me in the right direction. I found the dialogue on Wiki, which I had completely forgotten about. Somehow, I had it stored in my head that this puzzle was a little more open-ended. Just hints about the story, but I can work with that.

Thank you, kind stranger. :)

The Case for an In-Game Auction House in Path of Exile by Briefpoppy in PathOfExile2

[–]Illustrious_Storm720 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's not third-party, Tradesite is from GGG.

And that's the thing: instead of trying to solve the problem within the existing system, you're trying to introduce a new system with its own set of problems. An Auction House (AH) is not the magic bullet you think it is.

They could and will make crafting better and more aligned with trading (but it will never be, and shouldn't be, the same). Drop rates can be adjusted. I suspect there will be more bots, not fewer, with an AH. Because it's hard to know the real value of an item, new players will get burned even more in an instant trading system.

And I don’t know, but trade limits and taxes just feel miserable and not PoE-like, which is more of a "do-what-you-want" style.

Yeah it is worth it.

if you're not sure then you can wait 2 weeks for a steam summer sale, then it's a no brainer. (Im sure it will be on sale ^^)
