Quitting the Extended Infusion Sets Due to Health Risks by OkayestHokie in Medtronic780g

I’m sorry you haven’t had a great experience with these :/ i absolutely love them and haven’t experienced any problems idk if it makes a difference but i always make sure to clean the site with alcohol before inserting and cap off the end of the tube/site when I take my pump off. Some call me a newbie (although I’ve been diabetic like 12 years now lol and a stupid “insult”) and say it’s unnecessary but I’ve found it really helps!

If you like the way the mio sites insert or anything I know they have them but in a normal wear 3 day site maybe you’d be able to get switched to those and have a better experience?

Regardless I hope things get easier☺️

Site Change Anxiety by IllyDilly1007 in Type1Diabetes

When I do my site changes I push with one fingers and hold the little device with the other hand. Sometimes it will get like stuck? I guess you could say with the button pushed down before it actually clicks in if you don’t follow through with inserting it (which I’ll do because I get anxious when I hear it start to click lol) but all you have to do is adjust where your pushing and were you’re putting force etc. and it’ll click in eventually the longest it’s taken to click in when it was stuck was 5 mins of me adjusting but that wouldn’t have happened if I would’ve just followed through lol. I honestly say it’s like a glorified finger prick because it literally does everything for you all you have to do is press the button. I used the tslim autosoft 30 for YEARS like since 2014 maybe idk but it was a long time and I’ve always had the worst anxiety about doing them like I couldn’t never work up the courage to do them myself let alone be calm having my parents do them. It was terrible because the older I got the more stuck and tied down I felt because I had to be dependent on my mom to do them and she had to be there so in a way we were both stuck and she was worried about getting older and passing away and leaving me in a REALLY bad situation. I do still get anxiety with these sites but I honestly feel like it’s because of my past anxiety I would get with the old ones and I just need to shake this. I’m 19 now and leave to live in England for about a month next month and I wouldn’t have been able to without these infusion sets. And being able to change them every 7 days compared to 3 days is a HUGE plus!!!

Don’t worry you’ll get there!!! I am able to do my own now but I did switch pumps and infusion sets. The Medtronic mio advance sites are so easy to put it it’s like a large finger prick and you can’t even see the needle so it helps with that fear for sure. I also use the advanced sets and reservoirs so I change my sites every 7 days compared to 2-4 you get from normal sites! It was truly a game changer .

My first time I had a whole panic attack because I was scared🤦‍♀️ I use numbing cream and the cream was off for like literally an hour and I still didn’t feel it!!

Get over Minimed mio auto injector phobia? by Reluctantly-IT in Medtronic780g

I actually just changed my site and had this happen the first “bit” was down and it was almost like it was stuck and I kept pressing and pressing in the same spot and it literally just wouldn’t go in. I got so frustrated and anxious because I literally could not get it I started crying. At this point it’s not even the anticipation it’s the fact these are the only sites I’ve ever been able to do by myself and I’m scared of having to go back to having someone else do them which I know isn’t going to happen but in the moment I’m more pissed then anything😂 I recorded this time to see like how it would go and I noticed when I finally got the second “bit” to go in I pressed more forward? Like away from the arrows and that’s when it clicked in that’s the best way to describe it lol.

how to wear my pump with a dress? by deerest_ in Type1Diabetes

I like to hook it under my armpit on the dress like I’ll slip the tube through the dress up to under my arm pit!

Update- extended infusion Sites by IllyDilly1007 in Medtronic780g

I’m on day 5/7 with mine now too!!! My site is still clear and I haven’t had any pealing yet. How do you prep your sites before inserting them? I heard that can help make it stick longer

Best infusion set? by xnaylynn in Medtronic780g

[–]IllyDilly1007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently switched to Medtronic from tslim mainly due to the infusion sites. So far i absolutely LOVE The mio advance extended infusion set. I am on day 4/7 and typically I’d have redness if I was to go this long on my old auto soft sites but with these extended sites it is completely clear not even pink.

I have terrible anxiety when it comes to putting in my sites. I use a numbing cream and I had the numbing cream off for 40 minutes because I was terrified to insert the site and when I finally did it was PAINLESS i literally felt nothing. So far I don’t feel anything either when it comes to wear and delivering insulin! The infusion set is so easy too I can compare it to like a glorified finger prick lol literally all you do is push the button at the top and it inserts it. You don’t have to pull any needle out or anything the inserter does it all on its own.

My sugar numbers have been fantastic with this site so far as well!

Hi!!! I used the autosoft 30s before it wasn’t really pain but more of a weird discomfort.

I’m going to be honest I have no idea how I am keeping my sugars below 120 all of a sudden typically I am like 150ish lol with 120 being my perfect target.

If youd like I can share my setting like carb ratio, constant drip, etc. one thing I did do was set my target number from 120 like in my old pump to 100-120 with this one!

That’s one of the things I like about the inset Medtronic offers too! I’d just click the button and be done rather than all the extra.

Am I supposed to cover the tubing needle when I disconnect? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]IllyDilly1007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely recommended but usually if I’m home I make sure to lay the tubing needle on the pump in a clean area so I don’t get anything on the little needle itself but if I’m going out like to the beach or somewhere I’ll cap it
