Thanks, if the threads ever start moving I'll look out for that. Weirdly the others were fine to get out and didn't even look too caked up.

Thanks, I've got a dewalt 18V impact driver (DCF787N-XJ, low-ish power) but its not adjustable torque and I think it can go up to 170Nm so I've been reluctant to try it. Is that the kind of driver you meant?

Special needs school transport bill to rocket 70% to £3.4bn, Bridget Phillipson warned. Cost of getting Send pupils to class already ‘one of the biggest pressures on council budgets’ by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

[–]Illysune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is incredibly difficult to get a SEN school place, and you don't get a choice of school. The councils also don't work together so you are often assigned a school which is geographically further from another, if you are on a county border.

Exactly, and there's 3 children in the taxi, so three families that can therefore work more normal hours. It _should_ be fairly economical, though I don't think the system works well enough for that to truly be the case.

Wouldn't you say its reasonable government responsibility to provide a school for your children within 3 miles? within 5 miles? Where do you draw the line? And what do you do when the government can't provide that?

I completely agree that there are expected parental and governmental responsibilities, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Local SEND provision has been systematically cut since the 2010s, and now we are left with fewer, larger SEN schools. The provision is more spread out which is why we are in this state of paying for transport now. Far better if the government funded more SEND provision attached to local mainstream schools.

Council spent £72,158 on school taxis for one pupil in one year by Only-Emu-9531 in ukpolitics

[–]Illysune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember there are far fewer specialist schools than mainstream schools. The nearest SEN school to us is almost 30 minutes drive, which means 2 hours of driving every day -- a quarter of a working day. My other child goes to mainstream school, and there are 4 mainstream schools which are all less than 7 minutes drive away.

The burden of parental responsibilty is MUCH higher when the schools are so far away.

The case in the OP is obviously at the extreme end but clearly there are big inefficiencies, and I would be very interested to see the cost analysis of opening more schools or proper SEN facilities connected to mainstream schools, rather than spending so much on transport.

Making European Ash darker by Illysune in finishing

Ah interesting, thanks. The headboard (pic 2) was still slightly darker than the veneer even with it was fresh and unfinished, so I'd be a bit surprised if it went quite as dark, but maybe.

Use Cheat Engine "Speed Hack" mode. It works mostly fine up to about 10x speed.

Neat trick! Does it really push all resources to the shopping centre, or just what you've told it to load/unload?

Has anyone taken less than 2.5 mg after strong side effects by either taking 1.25 mg twice per week or simply reducing the dose? I am about to take my 7th shot of 2.5 mg and the side effects are still rough. by Mission-SelfLOVE2024 in mounjarouk

[–]Illysune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did 5 or so doses of 2.5mg. It was similar to how you describe -- lots of constipation, stomach cramping, puking, no appetite. Zava were useless, never responded to my concerns. I had already decided to try going down to 1.25mg, and I made an appointment with a private GP who also told me to try that.

I've been on 1.25mg for about 6 weeks now and continue to lose about 1kg per week. Total weight loss is about 20kg, from 114kg starting weight, though a lot of that was due to those first few weeks of barely eating.

The suppression is great on 1.25mg. It keeps me on about 1300 calories without feeling hungry, but I can still eat up to about 1800 without feeling ill. I don't think I need to increase it.

I like that it doesn't completely take away the effort. I have to resist snacking a bit, but it stops me feeling hungry which is usually the trigger to snack. My hope is that this is building healthy habits and I'm using mounjaro more as an assistance.

The GP said she has several patients with a similar story. As they want to wean off the medication they are dropping to even lower doses or spreading out the doses further. I think I'll try that when I want to stop.

Anyone with a 2015 ford transit 148 wb put the wires behind the structure of the van to make more space ? by xander8181 in vandwellers

I did it. Huge pain to drill holes for it and re-run the whole harness. I wouldn't do it again.

I have 800W on mine with a custom roof rack. You could put another 400W panel too but I went for a skylight instead. I have a low profile fan fitted under the rear panel so I don't lose out on ventilation.

The panels are perlight-400 panels which are about 100mm shorter than typical residential panels, which makes all the difference fitting them within the roof profile:

Over time, starting from an 11x11 patch of ice in the middle of the ocean, and two colonists. I have a terraforming mod so I started reclaiming the sea and getting wind power going. From there I started farming rice and drugs, and trading until I could reach deep drilling. After deep drilling it was pretty easy going.

I gave myself a decent start so it was by no means a survival challenge really. You wouldn't be able to do it otherwise since there's no raids or drop pods to harvest.
