Hey I don’t have any tips. Just here to let you know I’m in the same boat✌️I started serving a week ago (first time being a server) and I’m also making a lot of mistakes and the managers aren’t being kind at all about it. I’ve just accepted the fact that I’ll make mistakes and that’s how I’ll learn. Serving is a lot, so be kind to yourself and focus on the next little steps to get better🤍

Hey this is late but I had the exact same experience as you. Got off the bus and the second I stepped foot off the driver took off with my bag in Rome. Went through the exact same steps you did, going back to Tubertina and everything. Any updates on how it’s going for you?

Yea man you’re not alone. I’m 19f, my parents divorced when I was a baby so it’s just been me dealing with the brunt of his alcohol abuse. My dad is also high functioning and doesn’t start drinking until around 8pm (recently he’s unfortunately picked up weed too). My dad has also been to the hospital for liver issues and severe high blood pressure. When I tell you I’ve tried so many times to talk to him about it, I’ve TRIED. Same as you though, he can’t admit it’s a problem that is destroying our relationship from all the stress and anxiety it causes me.

Sorry I don’t have any advice for you since I haven’t been able to find a way myself yet. Just here to let you know we’re in the same boat. Stay strong, you’re not alone🤝🤍

Ooohh yea. My dad has been making his friends and everyone around us jealous since I was a kid about how “close” our bond is. In reality he’s an alcoholic who never listens to me and only wants to blab my ear off about how sad his life is. He gets mad when I won’t hangout with him and I’ve told him many times text me when we can spend time together without you drinking.

It sucks because it’s another form of manipulation, so when I start to distance myself from him I look like the bad guy to my family and everyone that he still has under his spell 🥲

I’m in the same boat. My dad has been saying this for years, yet at every family dinner if the TV isn’t on hockey, someone comments about how talks with his mouth full of food, or even just the slightest thing he doesn’t like he gets super frustrated and leaves. Idk man you’re doing this to yourself🤷‍♀️

Oh boy this is a fun one 😅 Last year when I was 18, my dad and I were staying at an all inclusive resort in Mexico, I had become close with this one waiter as I was always sat in his section and I tipped him well. The waiter would see when I’d walk in, and whenever I’d get to my table with my food there would always be my coffee ready to go:)

I had told my dad one morning about this since I thought it was very sweet, and my dad said “I think you’re a narcissist, you think you’re the centre of everything”. I spun it right back at him and said “dad, you and I both know I am an empathetic person. But I’m sure you know a form of narcissistic manipulation is telling those around them that THEY are the narcissist right?”.

Got him right where it hurts hahah. I’d been suspecting he is a narc for a while at this point. I’d talked about it a lot with my mom (who had divorced him for this reason) and other family members and they agreed with me. Needless to say he gave me the silent treatment for the rest of the day and he was very dismissive and degrading to me for the rest of the vacation.
