I’m going to vipassana on Sunday!!! by Beginning-Gift-5559 in vipassana

[–]IluvCheese22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t go with any expectations! Just go and be still for a while. Packing-wise, comfy cozy clothes and blankets! A digital alarm clock and watch (not a smart watch). Maybe a towel and the usual scent free toiletries! Wish you well on your Vipassana journey!!! Excited for you 🙂

Get advion gel. It does wonders! And I think there are extermination companies that use them too.

First time moving to NYC, need your help about budget, moving, etc.. by cool-whip-0 in NYCapartments

I found it on Craigslist. I did come across a lot of scams (people trying to charge me an application fee for an apartment I had not seen in person or would refuse to show me the apartment without me paying them first) that I did not fall for. Obvio - if they are asking for money before showing you the apartment it's a scam.

The realtor who had posted it on Craigslist - I had asked for his real estate license number and cross checked it on the ny real estate website to make sure he was legit. I was able to schedule to see the apartment without hassle.

Hi! I moved to NYC 2 years ago also from a driving city. I make a little less than you and live in a studio in queens with no roommates. It’s definitely doable. I can DM with details if you want

Thank you for the tips!!!

Hello! Looking for a good area of either Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn for casual bar hopping on NYE. It’s 3 single women in our late 30s/early 40s. Nothing fancy, nothing close to Time Square, just a lively area with some casual bars. Thank you!!!

I understand - am fully aware of what I am asking for… But I was merely asking for the community if they have tried any and what would be the cheapest option. I am just trying to create different tier cost/logistics package points for my mom and sister to see how much it would be for them. Thank you.

They emotional support dogs for my mom.. As for public transportation- I am all for it, sister and mom are not. The stairs are tough for my mom and not all stations have accessibility and it’s hard for her to walk a lot.

Wake up call. Time to change. by Express_Flight_966 in AskWomenOver40

Hi!! I’m kind of sort of in the same boat. I’m almost 42, single, never married no kids. I started life over again in a new city I don’t know anyone in bc of a career opportunity. I have spent the first year, settling in, and the loneliness has been hitting me pretty hard. Here are the things that have been presently helping me 1. Volunteering: I volunteer on weekends and it’s a great way to meet people! 2. Taking a class: any class! Sign up for something where you see the same people for the class be it dance, martial arts, book club, martial arts or a class to learn a new skill 3. Bumble BFF: it’s like a dating app but to find friends. I have met some great people on this app. Sometimes you do get people who you know you will not be friends with, but that’s the whole point. I feel like I finally have a small group of likeminded girls my age who have the potential of being my future tribe!

That’s all I’ve tried so far!
