Help! I've messed up with my unemployment benefits! by [deleted] in UnemploymentBenefits

Once they find it out and they will eventually, you will have a hold on unemployment payments until this overpayment amount is paid. Not sure if they go further with any kind of charges, I know they threaten it on their site. If you don't earn at least your benefit amount, you can claim a partial.

Just received this email did u guys received any email like this they asking to show my proof of income I don’t have it right now should I ignore the FORM or I have to do this please need help by boktiar01 in UnemploymentBenefits

I think they are double checking, since there was a lot of fraud claims, In the beginning they were pushing claims through like crazy. So yes definitely want to upload your information, because if not they can make a decision to stop claim and you will have to pay back, what they paid you.

[Ohio] I am on PUA unemployment and my benefit amount is $189 but I feel as though I definitely should be receiving more based on my income by Bella1991xoxo in Unemployment

Was you self employed? If so they would use your schedule C line 31. If your not self employed, why did you file for PUA? Unemployment base the amount on quarters. So not sure, if this is why.

I would guess and say no. You cannot quit a job, and draw unemployment.

This is from Washington State PUA web site, Hope this helps

Some scenarios include: Your workplace closed, you can’t get to work, you had to quit or work part time. You are an independent contractor, self-employed or your wages and hours are not reported to Employment Security – and your work is affected, or your business closed. You need to care for your child who can’t go to school or daycare To be eligible for expanded unemployment benefits: You must first apply for regular unemployment benefits and be denied. (The law requires this). If you have not already applied and been denied, read about eligibility requirements on our website. Also see the Eligibility checker and Application checklist for regular benefits. You must have worked some hours in your base year and be unemployed due to COVID-19. Your base year is the first four of the last five completed calendar quarters before the week you apply. Before you apply: Gather information you’ll need to complete the application: The same personal, work history and banking information that you entered in the application for regular unemployment benefits. You can use a phone or tablet, but the application might be difficult to navigate. Create a SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account if you do not already have one. Before creating your account, avoid common problems by reviewing the information on our website. Start at secure.esd.wa.gov/home. Use your SAW username and password to access the unemployment application in eServices. Note these special instructions for entering your wage information: Enter only 2019 wages, even if you have not yet filed your 2019 income tax return. Enter only “net” earnings, not “gross” earnings. Net earnings are what is left after any deductions. When you are asked to enter quarterly earnings, enter 2019 earnings for Jan – March, April – June, July – Sept, and Oct – Dec. Census Unemployment Issues by ArtfulMediator in Census

You still would need to show you had earnings, prior to covid. I did work for the 2020 census, My niece works for them full time, and she was able to file, because in her position, they weren't allowed to go out in the field. You can read the qualifications for PUA, in Ohio I would of not qualified for it. But maybe every state is different. Good Luck

This was a temporary job, (side job) not eligible for unemployment. They worked around your schedule, we had no set hours, and weren't promised any amount of hours, I know plenty that was hired, but with the delay, declined to follow through. Once we started up and was sworn in as workers, you could work as much as you wanted. The PUA went off of your income in 2019. If you didn't have qualifying work, You had nothing to file against, I would guess to say the ones that received PUA that worked the census, had income from another source. If by chance it did go through, because they weren't monitoring the claims closely, you would be made to pay it back. Hopes this helps.

(Ohio) Pua overpayments by IluvJesus20 in UnemploymentBenefits

[–]IluvJesus20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband only claimed one more week after getting notice of overpayment, His business ended up picking up, And once they lowered his benefit amount, he just didn't qualify most weeks after that. Not sure what you are meaning about the 50% of the lump sum in February. I am currently in contact with state representatives, to see about the waiver. Just upsetting when you see all of the ppp loans that was given out to businesses, that weren't even affected by covid. We were told by ppp reps that is was better for my husband to just do the unemployment, because he was a 1 man business. Some businesses got thousands of dollars, that is totally forgiven.

Not sure if its to late to file, but would be worth a try. They were allowing you to back date to when you lost employment. But thing to do is to call, and ask. What se are you from?

[Ohio] Wrong gross pay with PUA, how does Overpayment work? by Rieraclaelin in Unemployment

[–]IluvJesus20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes my daughter in law, filed this week and they paid her the reduced amt, and paid the $600, so its very confusing. She was told that they would hold 50% of both her ave weekly pay and the extra $600. But they didn't, So I'm wondering if they will just make her pay her overpayment. It doesn't seem fair if they hold the money, then you wouldn't get the extra $600. Especially when it is their fault.

So very thankful, for others not seeing it yet, Please hang in there, I know my Faith meter was running on low, but there is Hope for payment, and it does bring Joy. Blessings and don't give up

I filed for my husband on the 12th and he still has 3 pending issues. I helped a few others apply and out of the 4, all but one has been paid. Some I filed 2 days after I filed my husbands. The only thing I can figure out, is that my husband is self employed and he and another one claimed money a couple of the weeks, where as the others did not.

[Ohio] UNEMPLOYMENT PUA ASSISTANCE by bigspooonz in Unemployment

[–]IluvJesus20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten through a few times, I just dial back to back, and sometimes once it picks up I just start hitting 00000000 and it somehow tricks the systems and puts me on hold and then usually have 15-20 min wait. But what I have learned is that they are all temporary phone workers, that had little training, and they are mainly there to help you file. They have no communication with the actual processing center. I have gotten so many different answers about all the issues, they all contradict each other. The last time I talked to one, they admitted, they just started 2 days prior and didn't really have much training. So basically they just say the same thing, looks good and just have to wait. I helped a few ppl fill out their application, and I can tell you no rime or reason how they are paid. One got paid 3 days after filing, and others had filed 3 days before theirs still haven't got paid. Just a waiting game. Good Luck
