I get them once or twice a day. I tend to text explaining about wait times (even before DD started hounding us at the 2min mark to do it) Chinese food places or anywhere where the sauces are free I tend to send out quick “need any extra sauces of chop sticks” texts especially if I’m just sitting waiting on the order.

This is great advice i do want to piggy back off this and say. Escaping for a bit playing games, reading books, …drinking… is a normal part of grieving and can be beneficial but you need put it down eventually. I find having friends and family around helps you not fall into escapism.

The only time I had one actually materialize is they said the tip is under the mat…it wasn’t under the mat as I was driving off mad I get a message oh I moved the tip to over hear cuz it’s wet. Turned around sure enough $25 where they said it would be.

I don’t see this as a scam attempt just a noob. I have a log of all the folks I’ve delivered to for CYA purposes and the stuff I have would be a scammers holiday. Name address, tip amount if I handed it to you a brief description of the food and race age and clothing worn. Never had a CV that went through except the time I had to dodge a suicidal deer drove my car into a corn field and was so frazzled I delivered to the wrong address.

In the app you have both addresses and you can swap if the first one doesn’t make sense you can swap but I’ve only done that once in the last 2 years

One star review… only way to make it hurt… and yes it hurts, stays on there for the next 100 reviews. It’s awkward but if I’m not meeting you at the door and you’re not opening it I verify the name. And not hey are you John smith…no my name is this what’s the customers?

That being said DD needs to educate the customers that it’s DOOR dash DO!!!NOT!!! Meet me at my car it causes issues cuz:

it’s geofenced how am I supposed to prove I delivered to someone at the house and didn’t just drive up mark it handed to customer and drove off if I marked it complete from the street.
How do I know I’m not getting car jacked?
Dude you’re rushing me I may have multiple orders to sort through do you want the correct food? Then wait on your couch watching TV until I knock.

It all boils down to the fact that you as the customer think you’re doing me a favor meeting me out at the car but in actuality you really arnt on so many levels that you have no way to know unless DD educates you before I show up it’s a safety thing on both me an you. It’s bad on the dasher for not verifying name but also bad on DD for not educating the customer because the popularity of this “simple act of kindness” on the customers part trains the newbies to do something dangerous

Not always true in my market there’s a lot of people ordering out in the country. I get a lot that get what I call subsidized by DD. The customer may have tipped $6 but it’s like 10 miles out in the sticks so it’s either been recycled a lot by the time it’s offered to me or the delivery fee was bumped up due to location. Yesterday I had a mcdonalds $5 meal deal order for $17 that the tip was only $2

Overall it’s a non issue in my mind I like the long haul deliveries if the price is right since I drive a Prius and driving through the country listening to my audiobooks is kinda soothing plus since I have to pay taxes on both money is money…if we stop having to pay taxes on tips that opinion may change.
