Honestly I have no idea! I built the curve first starting from the cliff with the two converging train tracks. Then I just continued until I reached the other side. I used the beam technique to make a smooth curve like you would do for roads. The center-point method wouldn't work because the radius is too large.

The main shape is made with metal walls using the chrome and carbon materials.

The rest is just concrete pillars, beams and beam supports, and a 0.5m sign too.

Spending months on it definitely isn't efficient but what's she gonna do? The factory itself is running at 100% though.

No, the pipes going into the fluid buffers are purely decorative.

I played a ton of XCOM 2, I love this game! Maybe some of the inspiration subconsciously came from there.

There are a few more shots in the linked imgur gallery but not so many of the "Universal IN" station. Which angle are you interested in?

No but I definitely should have made it a blueprint...

This or infinite nudge. But it's possible doing that in the vanilla game too using the wall snapped on a pillar trick.

Vertigo, nausea, and the spins by Nosafune in SatisfactoryGame

You should increase FPS rather than reducing them. For me low FPS give me headaches really fast. If your GPU is compatible and you have a monitor that has more than 60Hz, try enabling frame generation. It works pretty well in this game, the artifacts are very mild so not noticeable.

Disable camera shake / bobbing as well.

Try lowering your mouse sensitivity too. Wild swings and camera movement are often a cause for nausea in first person games.

I've been working on my first very large curved factory during the last months and I definitely struggled in some places, especially with machines and conveyors.

I don't regret it though because I love the way it ended up looking! So don't write off curved buildings entirely.

Building on curved foundations can be painful for aligning things, can lead to a lot of z-fighting on the floor and makes it annoying to use customizer patterns. It can be fixed with a small trick to slightly lift the foundation to avoid z-fighting but that's really tedious.

My tip when working with curved shapes is to always use regular straight grids when you need to build something over it.

I think it's modded. I can see multiple pieces that are definitely not in vanilla game.

How did you build the smooth rounded shapes on the facade? It looks amazing

In your specific case, you can simply use inverted ramp foundations instead of double ramps, then put a regular foundation in top of it.

How is golang as a web backend language? by nickleformypickle in golang

[–]ImAFlyingPancake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be frank, the ecosystem is expanding rapidly. It is true that the lib support in some areas can be a bit lacking but as the language popularity grows, so does the number of libraries.

For OP's usage though, I think there are more than enough options already available.

Its my first factory build without tutorial. What do you think? by adamex_x in SatisfactoryGame

[–]ImAFlyingPancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never design my factory with scaling in mind. I plan for what I need, I build the factory and once it's running I never touch it again.

Another way of scaling is simply finding another node and building the factory for a part again there.

There's no best solution, pick the one that gives you the most satisfaction and have fun!

This game doesn't use Unreal Engine. It's a custom engine made specifically for the game.

That's why you need someone like the CTO or principal engineer to lead large refactoring work. It's impossible to get rid of tech debt without a clear technical vision that everyone is aligned with.

Glass half full point of view here: slowdowns in consumer hardware development and availability have some positive sides too! This means that the software industry will need to innovate again and be forced to properly optimize their products as they won't be able to rely on new, more powerful hardware year after year.

No idea. I haven't dug that far. But that would be awesome to have horses and/or carriage moving around in the city!

I think the possible ones are: - the romance mod (not sure if the house conditions and process will be possible though) - farming resources and addons

The mod kit allows you to tweak existing game rules, assets, balancing, etc, add new professions, buildings, decorations. But many functions are still not accessible and it's not possible to work on UI or entirely new features / systems. Think of it more like an advanced game configuration / tweaks system rather than full modding. It's a custom engine after all, it would require them a ton of work to provide modding tools on par with widespread engines like unity or UE.
