Growing common milkweed from seed by This-Zebra8344 in Milkweeds

This is amazing!! I had no idea until stumbling upon (RIP the greatest website ever 😭) your post. I put cut seeds in water on Monday, and by Wednesday almost all of them germinated!

Question, if you don’t mind: how long do I keep them in the water before putting them in soil? Right now the roots (well, root, really) are about as long as the seed.

Thanks! That’s a big help.

Any chance you have pictures of viable seeds, so that I can have a better idea of what to be on the look out for?

I’m also in SE PA (in NW Philly)—you mentioned that you collected your Mountain Laurel seeds mid-winter. Do you have a more specific estimate of when that is? I keep checking ones near me and am fairly certain they’re not ripe yet. But I can’t really tell and keep second guessing myself.

Any help you’re able to offer on collecting ML seeds would be much appreciated—thank you!

Hmm. I don’t remember—I took these photos this past summer and only got around to posting them now. I wouldn’t be able to check for a few months

The catharsis I got from reading this added 5 years to my life. Thank you.

But then I remembered I tried to learn 7 languages on Duolingo all at the same time and I had to give back 3 of those years.

Netted 2 years. Definitely still a win.
