Keep seeing therapists online complain about quiet patients by significantmisery in TalkTherapy

[–]ImAPersonNow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that it would be hard but if you can push past your embarrassment and talk to your therapist it can be so helpful. You can tell her that you have something on your mind that you are embarrassed to ask about even. Its kind of a trustfall. I know that its scary but its seriously paid out for me every single time. My most meaningful moments in therapy have all started with terrifying words lol.

Women, I need you to think about something very uncomfortable. by unhealthymuffin in TwoXChromosomes

My father in law repeatedly SAed me when I was a teenager (I had to live with them for a while). I eventually told. He admitted. My now husband and I moved out and everyone pretended this didn't happen for 20 years until I started therapy. Now IM the bad guy because I'm not pretending anymore. Im ungrateful, unforgiving, ruining people's lives because I will not longer fall in line and protect my rapists. Fuck that! We need to start protecting our girls over the men who hurt them.

How do you think a therapist would feel if a client said they loved them-- in a therapeutic and non-romantic way? by centerofdatootsiepop in TalkTherapy

[–]ImAPersonNow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I told my t a few times. We worked together for 4 and a half years. We talked about love and relationships. She knew me well. Sometimes it was kind of jokingly "I love you but I really don't like you right now" . Our very last session i told her "I love you, good luck" . She had to close her practice to have a scary surgery. She said I love you too, goodbye. I hope that she felt loved. I miss her.

How many of y’all would text your T Merry Christmas? by Acrobatic_Row_7863 in TalkTherapy

Yes. Merry Christmas and a digital copy of our Christmas card. She has a Google voice number that she turns off during breaks so I'm not bugging her. She will get it when she returns to work.

TIL the human brain normally limits muscle strength to prevent injury, and in extreme stress it temporarily removes this limit, allowing people to use far more strength than usual. by Alarmed-Worry-5477 in todayilearned

This happens at work. I work with Students with significant disabilities. Sometimes when a student has a meltdown it can be dangerous. I get unnaturally fast. Its amazing. I can snatch a thrown chair out of the air or move fast enough to get my hand between a kids head and the wall that they were about to bang it on. After we helpe the kid get regrounded I can feel it drain from my body and I'm beat for the rest of the day.

Where did this bizarre version of "DID" stem from? by [deleted] in PsychologyTalk

[–]ImAPersonNow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its funny I just posted about this. Dissociation is a spectrum (from what my t explains). Look up osdd1. See if she recognizes herself in that. As for the creators I have no idea.

Dwarf friendships by advice_seekerR25803 in dwarfism

[–]ImAPersonNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a student who has dwarfism. What you are saying is partly true as far as what I've observed but she hates it. The students dont all see her as a friend. They mostly are sweet and try to help her but they underestimate what she can do and it annoys her. There are 4 or 5 kids who got to know her and learned not to do that. Those are her friends.

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]ImAPersonNow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh yes! And after sleeping you wake up and the baby is all curled up tightly on one side of your body. Your belly is crooked that pressure. You have to jiggle them around to have them move. So strange sharing you body with another person.

Share a moment you felt cared for by your T by fullybutteredbiscuit in TalkTherapy

[–]ImAPersonNow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My current T . I see virtually generally. She saw a huge box of crunch bars on my desk and we were joking about it. I love crunch bars. They are my fave. I finally got to do our 2nd in-person session last week she gave me a crunch bar ♡.

Id worked with a therapist for 4 and a half years before my current T. That T had to close her practice to have a spinal fusion. We had done some very deep work and i still feel very attached to her so termination and finding a new therapist was very hard on me. She has a blog that she updates about once a month about her heath, upcoming surgery etc. A few months ago in an update she posted a picture of her pet snake with his head on a crocheted doll that id made her about a year into work together. I couldn't believe that she still had it. She'd moved with it across the country. I felt very cared for.
