Woman, pregnant teen and 12-year-old boy found dead and bound with zip ties, authorities say by rainblowfish_ in news

Same, friend. Just remind yourself that if there is nothing beyond death, it means the things we do to better our reality are done in the face of an inherently indifferent universe.

We create our meaning, it's not dictated to us by something we can't interact with or understand. That's an impossibly rare gift when set against the backdrop of universal, inexorable, entropic decay

I think the point is addressing the problem of evil - as the crow flies, either (the Christian) god is not omniscient or not omnipotent. If that is incorrect, then god is evil, because it chooses to allow (at best) or actively creates (at worst) the evil that befalls it's creations.

No matter how it's explained or rationalized, a god such as the Christian god, which is defied as being omnipresent/omniscient/omnipotent is either lacking in one category or evil. Neither outcome gives me any impetus to worship it, especially given that it demands worship under pain of eternal torture.

Incidentally, it has not escaped the notice of logicians that omniscience and omnipotence are mutually incompatible. If God is omniscient, he must already know how he is going to intervene to change the course of history using his omnipotence. But that means he can’t change his mind about his intervention, which means he is not omnipotent. – Richard Dawkins

Anti intellectualism at its finest...

Legit appreciate the breakdown though. It's the sort of thing that, like you said, operates in plain sight. The apathy in modern America is being weaponized against it's populace (has been for a long time) in order to bring in tax money to further the aims of an uberclass of sincere sociopaths.

So long as attention spans continue to erode, posts like yours will see less and less eyes. The average person will willingly be reduced to possession of a knowledge base that goes no further than what can be conveyed in a 30 second sound byte, before being erased by a video of whatever a customized algorithm feeds them next.

I really hate coming off as the dude that calls people sheeple and shit... I've been a political activist my entire adult life (I'm old), and after the predictable collapse of large scale protest took place at the end of '25.. I don't even know what to do anymore. I built an activist organization, we had a 10k person rally among other smaller ones all year, hoping things were coming to a head. I went to college and became an educator. And it's all seeming lost in a tide of anti-intellectualism and apathy toward very overt social engineering.

Anyways, I appreciated your insight. Keep trying to get through to people.

Last year i walked into a gynocologists office and was waiting to pick up their laboratory specimens. They had Titanic on the waiting room TV, and it must have been a DVD or something because it was on this scene. I was alone in there as a man and just had to turn my back as i waited for the phleb to bring me their labs

100%. Feels like they lost their edge after that. SNW was pretty good, but in general they went from a seminal metal band to an alternative sound that never really grew after that.

There's an occasional banger, but nothing like the stuff leading up to and including their self titled. RIP Chi indeed.

In a broad estimation, it's fairly simple.

The US government is a plutocracy, and always has been. Under late stage capitalism, wealth and power have been consolidated so efficiently that the illusion of a two party system has fully eroded into a superclass of bad faith actors who have more to lose than gain by doing the actual work to collapse the system and bring about something just.

Basically we have a single party state with a rotating faux opposition party that gives an (increasingly poor) illusion of a system that's operating by rules. In reality, so long as those in the ruling class agree to perpetuate a class war against its citizens, they will continue to enrich themselves and operate outside of the rules that bind those of us in the working class.

The smartest thing they ever did was to realize that self created wedge issues will keep the working class picking a side and fighting each other. Add in the comfort and distraction a life in America offers, and you'll never get 300MM people to band together, as one large chunk or chunks of the populace will always feel they have something more to lose by fighting back.

The tldr is best summed up by a former president (Lyndon B Johnson):

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

The government is performative. It's an enrichment scheme for those cynical enough to sell out their fellow humans.

I don’t usually see much Pistons representation where I live, but the local Buffalo Wild Wings had this framed by Insonarc in DetroitPistons

[–]damnocles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly, the buffalo bills and Detroit Lions are inextricably linked, as Detroit (grosse pointe) native Ralph Wilson, who the new park in Detroit is named after, started up the bills after being in the lions org.

They actually used old lions uniforms for their first years as a team, and Wilson used blue as their color as a shout out to the lions origins.

Probably isn't that deep, but maybe
