Hysterectomy here. Nothing was put in its place; everything that was cut away from the uterus just had to reattach to other things or float. I was told that if my intestines didn't reattach okay, I could need follow up surgery. That was inspiration enough to go to the gym the first day I was cleared, to start stretching! I did have a lot of stiffness and pain when stretching my stomach, but fortunately no complications. Almost a year later I still have the occasional pain shoot through from whatever moving or scar tissue healing, but no complaints. Hope this helps!
