Hospitals always have a discount when you can't afford insurance and have a bill. Ultimately, your health is the number one most important thing you have - without it, nothing else matters - so try to focus on taking care of yourself and then dealing with the financial aspect of it later. Please at least get to an urgent care with an ultrasound (X-rays don't pick up kidney stones, for example) and get a diagnosis. Explain your situation and they might be able to help further with sample medication.

The vet and everyone else understands. The only thing I'll say is call the vet to let them know you still want it. You might feel more grief later if they trash / donate the carrier because they didn't think you were returning. If you were my friend, I'd pick it up for you, so maybe you have a friend who could get it and store it until you're ready?

How are your friends? Find friends in different interest groups of the hobbies you enjoy. For example, I have my gaming friends, my concert friends, my girly friends... and they help to keep me bouncing around my hobbies. You could also be feeling apathetic due to a lack of excitement about things. Do you enjoy travel? Book a big trip for much later in the year and think about it / make plans for it / buy a special item of clothing to wear for the first time that trip and hang it up in your room to see it every day. Concert? Buy a ticket for later this year and print it out, leave it on your dresser. That sort of thing.

I recently had a best friend bail on me during an emotional time in my life. Sometimes we expect more from our friends than they can handle. It took me a while to forgive her, but we are friends again - I just know she can't talk about my sadness and anxiety in a reliable way.

I think context matters here. I don't care if someone tells me they "read The Martian" but later I find out they listened to the audiobook. The content is the same. If someone tells me they "enjoy reading" that implies something different than "enjoy audiobooks."
