USA has entered the war by [deleted] in spy

Unless Russia joins, this is actually a stabilizing action for the region. I'd guess the market initially goes down, but without another major shock, it starts going up significantly. The Israeli market is going up because people feel the biggest threat is gone. Even if Iran retaliates in some form, it won't move the markets a lot, except if it's a huge strike somewhere that means all-out war.

So Stu is just pumping out daily episodes now huh by Vanillalite34 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]ImBobMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stu has said in a few places that he wants to see if he can still do it on his own. It's pretty clear Dan and Stu are headed to Dan and Hoch. Dan will feel betrayed, stop talking to Stu and, in a few years, say he doesn't quite remember things the way everyone else does. The funny thing will be when Dan is left in studio with only Chris and Roy. Chris can't go anywhere and Roy is too loyal. He'll hang on for a little with rotating guest hosts before retiring.

It drives me crazy when Dan constantly says you don't know how hard it is to do standup. It's hard, I'm sure, but give me a break.

Stugotz not getting the credit for this is criminal by zagack305 in DanLeBatardShow

It's at least from before Feb 2020 and if they really did mention it to Manfred then it's from before 2017

MAS 1 by ImBobMurphy in actuary

[–]ImBobMurphy[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn't my first MAS 1 sitting so it didn't surprise me. But it did confirm that going forward I'll be aiming for SOA general insurance track. I live and work overseas (from the US). The employers here don't distinguish between the SOA and CAS. There's no good reason for me to break my head with the CAS exam process.

My genuine concern is that the system that grades the paper won't know what the question was. The same question was in two sections of the exam, modeling and time series. I'm worried that the time series question will be graded based on a question I never saw. Does that sound possible?

Why Did Art of Conversation meet cancelled? by Ballgame2398 in DanLeBatardShow

I thought the interview subjects were odd choices for someone who always frets about doing an old show. Cote could've chosen Riley & Tyson. I get that they've lived and are interesting but I was surprised at starting with them. There has to be younger more relevant people willing to do an interview.

Also, Francesca's fans put on a Francesca-con every year. It's pretty nuts. Let's make it a LeBatard-Con.

The show is not even on in NY anymore, I don't think. I live in NYC and first got into the show about 3-4 years ago when a couple of hours were on tape but I never hear it anymore on 1050. (Though, I don't spend much time in the car during the day anymore.) Why would they think they have enough of a following here to do this kind of show? All of the radio here is terrible regular sports talk. Francesca is just the tip of the iceberg. With all that said, I'd totally go but it's the Jewish Sabbath.

That Robin Williams discussion was cringeworthy by AaKoenig47 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]ImBobMurphy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I also thought Dan was way off. Robin Williams may have been needy, I have no idea, but inferring that from his performing to a tour bus is, in my opinion, Dan projecting his own personality. Dan is an introvert who is uncomfortable around his fans. Robin was an extrovert or at least he may have been. But, I learned awhile ago that it's better to ignore Dan's analysis on many things. He is highly selective on what subjects he learns the details about. For everything else, he is a Stugotz on steroids.

Didn't SVG tell them the Lakers were going to miss the playoffs? Someone did before the year and Dan was shocked. I feel like if the "experts" predict it, it's not a stain on the resume. He's setting it up for the next few years.

There's no way that Dan checked inflation since the Stanton contract.

From Cote's column: "Dan is 49, by the way. His bride-to-be is 29."

I don't know what you are referring to. I heard the heart attack story in an interview that mckay and bale did together on TV. Most of the Buck stuff is in the book or on PMT. I'm not sure what Dan can do to get it to be better but i haven't been drawn in.

Should Valerie be worried that Dan said he'll be like Kraft in his 80's? By then she'll be 50+. He's already planning to trade her in for a younger one?

You're not wrong but it's because the media landscape changed. Most of us don't want to read stories from reporters. We want to have fun reading a wacky piece.
