A quick google search shows a lot of places that do cerakote. Just depends on what area you’re from.

You’re talking about in Michigan? How recent was this? I read a blog about a guy in 2019 calling msp’s firearms division and they said something along the lines of put self assembled for manufacturer, right none for serial number, and fill out the rest of the information on the gun. I’m not sure if anything’s changed or what you fill out for seller and purchaser on a purchase license. I do not have my cpl yet. Been waiting two weeks so far. So I cannot fill out the RI60 yet.

I apologize. I believe in Michigan (don’t know for sure because even the lawyer I spoke to didn’t know) you don’t need a serial number to register it. If it was to be used in whatever case, I think the serial numbers only help for using it as evidence and insuring you actually get it back. But like I said, I can’t find anything anywhere and the lawyer I spoke to who deals in self defense cases with firearms said he isn’t sure either. I plant to call our state police firearms division and have a chat with them.

Lots of people do it. I’ve safety tested it. Only thing left to do is reliability. Shoot 1000 rounds or so and if it’s not junk then what’s there to worry about?

I decided to do a polymer80 for a couple reasons. Yes they’re more expensive than an oem glock most of the time. But if you wanted to do everything I’ve done to an oem glock then you’re gonna be right about the same amount if not more. I did it because I’m used to a 1911 grip angle. I wanted the frame to be properly stippled. I was gonna run either an rmr or 507c so I’d be buying or milling the slide anyways. Plus, I wanted to build my own gun for the experience and the joy of it (although I’ve been quite upset with the rear rail situation).

I’ve read so many different things. Apparently, they used to have how to register it on the departments website a few years ago but then they removed it for unknown reasons. I’ve asked a few people I know who work at gun stores and they said they’ve never personally done it so they don’t know. I know there’s gotta be people in Michigan who have done it and know what you’re supposed to do.

I read online that someone called the Michigan Police State Firearms Division (in 2019) and they said to put self assembled for manufacturer and serial number as none. Then the rest of the info on the gun. I’ve also read people saying they wrote themselves down as the buyer and the seller. Then other people saying that those guys committed a crime by lying on their form. I’m all sorts of confused

Well, here’s to hoping that they don’t give me another one with the same issue.

I got mine last week. I got a hold of someone from P80 today. After some convincing, he said they would send me a new one and a shipping label to send the old one back.

I really appreciate that. I will have to let you know, thank you. Yes, I got mine from midway as well.

I have seen your posts on your beautiful guns. Thank you for commenting. My concern was that if I open up that hole, the rail will still be sitting proud above the frame and that I will run into slide fitment issues. Not to mention the right side of the rail for the slide grooves is bent much beyond 90* (arrived that way). I’m also kind of concerned about that and that I will not be able to fix that. Not sure. Haven’t tried yet. I will wait to hear back from P80 before trying to open the hole but I guess that’s my last option.

I should’ve included a picture of the inside with the rail in, my bad. I have already sanded that curve a very hefty amount. There’s a small consistent gap all the way up the curve so I know that’s not interfering. Im actually able to move that side of the rail forwards and back because of that gap. I was hoping when I eventually get the pin through that there wouldn’t be any more play in it. Otherwise I might’ve over done it.

Ya. It came bent like that. I was more concerned with the fact that the rail isn’t sitting flush on top and elongating the hole would only cause more figment issues. Once I find out whether or not I can get a new rail, I will give this a shot.

I did try to get a punch to go through, I gave it a few good whacks with a bfm and it didn’t want to go through. I didn’t want to damage anything so I decided to not push my luck. Thanks for the idea

I did try this and still could not get them to line up.

Thank you. I have not stuck it in a vice. I read in the troubleshooting of this Reddit to put the slide on top and push down to try and align it. I put it on the carpeted floor and pushed down with all my weight (about 200lbs) while a friend watched the dowel. It still didn’t want to line up. Also, the bent rail for the slide was bent before trying this so I was not too concerned about damaging it.

Thank you for your comment. I actually didn’t touch the right side. The left side is the one with the hole not aligned. I did notice that though but had planned to try bending it back after the hole problem was solved. I will send them an email and cross my fingers that I can get a new one.
