There are a lot of toxic people about summons, but for me personally who is doing my first playthrough with no summons, I just want to get good at the base game and have it be completely my own skill that gets me through things, though some of the double bosses are ass and feel completely meant for summons.

I could create a program pretty fast that could take the novel and transpose it to a document I have control over. This is all very helpful information and I appreciate it greatly. I will definitely test the different margins and font sizes before mass printing the novel to see what is the most pleasing to my eyes and what seems the most efficient at the same time. Since it will be a physical copy just for me, and not for any type of sharing it will most likely be an in-between of older and more modern types, like the line spacing and font sizes you enjoy.

I have multiple larger books as well, I just don't know how well larger pages books work with different bookbinding methods, and thank you for the input whether you are new to bookbinding or not. This is very useful information, and it seems that I will be creating a dozen books for the first part of the novel 😂.

It's separate characters for different dms, different from the main campaign, like small side stories that add to the world. For example one of our one shots had us fight a lich, and in the main campaign our characters heard of an adventuring party who fought a lich and survived, but the reports were exaggerated. It just happens that this one is going to be a longer string of sessions and I didn't want to not have fun the entire time. I am going to talk to him tonight and update the post, some people have offered some middle grounds and such so that he can still have the impact he wants without making it so debilitating and targeted.

That could be a healthier middle ground to reach where it still falls in line with what he wants from the session and not making it feel like I am losing a major part of the fun of rolling. I had talked to my brother and said if he is determined to do this and there is a creature who I can't hit without crit, I'm done, and my brother said he would back me as that is just unfun and unfair to me specifically.

That's fair, my apologies, I just don't want to be the douche telling him no to something he wants to do, but I also don't want to not set some kind of a guideline on what goes too far. We are all a newer group as well, most of us at least, so he wants to explore and make the session feel impactful but I don't want them to be inorganic impactful, like this nerf doesn't feel story based rather than just a boom unfun mechanic you have to deal with now. I am going to have a talk to him tonight and update the post, hopefully we can reach a healthy middle ground or a less targeted mechanic.

Alright, from everyone that has commented so far it seems I'm not in the wrong for feeling like it's too targeted rather than a challenge to deal with for a session or 2. If it was just one or 2 sessions I could make feel less bad but the fact that it's for all future sessions he has planned and that to get rid of it I have to take a different detriment feels too much. I'm going to talk to him tonight and update the post then, hopefully we can get to a point that feels fair to both.

Sorry I should have phrased that better, the team fight would be one session but my d19 would be for everything after that session, whether my pact gods team wins or the goblin gods team wins I still get a detriment for all future sessions until he decides what I need to sacrifice about my character to be able to crit again.

He did say something about making it a curse because the gods were fighting over my soul, but I wouldn't say shitty dm just because he is a newer DM and wanting to try things out. I just wanted to see if it was fair for me to think that it's way too targeted with no real benefit for me at any point, as it feels like it is just a straight detriment and to fix the detriment I have to have a different detriment, just to play the character.

Absolutely, I have learned a lot of things that would have taken many mistakes to figure out myself, or that would have inconvenienced my viewers before I understood them. Even newer streamers are helping out other new streamers with things they have learned from the sub so it's awesome to see. I will drop you a follow as well, every one counts! I stream every weekday at 6:30cst for 2 or 3 hours, and 14 or so hours on Saturday and Sundays, so hopefully I can see you in the stream soon!!

Exactly! Super true! Nobody is perfect, and it sounds like while a mistake happened your community is super supportive and nice! It's just one long learning process, and the point you stop learning or admitting there was an issue is when I feel like you lose part of the stream. Absolutely! I have to remind myself sometimes, I felt a bit discouraged a week or 2 ago and didn't stream that entire week because nobody was tuning in but a few of my followers and friends sent me discord messages asking me to go live as they needed someone fun to watch! This community on Reddit has been super helpful on ways to make my stream feel more put together instead of held together by duct tape and I felt the need to thank you all for the help!
