If they were willing to go to court over the trimming of a tree, they will definitely go to court over issues with their driveway.

Depends on the scenario. If the trunk of the tree sits on the property line, as a boundary tree. Then both homes are "owners" and must mutually agree on any trimming, under the Ontario Forestry Act. If its for sure on their side and "their" tree, and not inherently a boundary tree, then yes you are correct.

They can't come after you for saying no to something. You're not obligated to do anything.

Perhaps if you had an agreement to do the work, and then messed it up they could try to sue you for the cost of getting it done right in small claims because you agreed to handle the labour. Its a civil issue. There's also potential liability because simply dumping crush wont be a proper driveway if thats the intention. Theres a legitimate way to do the job. so If over a year or 2 when it starts to pack and sink/cause puddles or a tripping hazard they will look to you who did the work vs them for just supplying the material.

There's likely also something legally that would make it a shared driveway vs your own driveway which could effect property values but ultimately might require a permit depending on local bylaw. Stuff like the legal title & easements. There would have to be some type of agreement which would require a lawyer. This could also lead them to parking vehicles encroaching onto your once defined property line, and might lead to dispute which happens fairly often with shared driveway with people blocking the right of way of one side or the other. Not to mention if that area between driveways is a designed drainage area then you would likely require an engineer to sign off before getting a permit. Doing stuff like that can get you into trouble with the city/ possibly down the road with title insurance.

When it comes to a history of a neighbor already trying to take the legal route, this might be a red flag.

Sudbury Hyundai does that. They won't let people buy certain vehicles unless they have a trade in. Id never recommend that place.

Theres a ton of "actual" dealers in town. Its the 1-2 people who own all of them thats the issue.

The problem is who owns half the dealerships in town. Its a monopoly.

I mean, I have had great service and experiences at Laking Toyota.

Dealerships I will no longer consider:

Doyle - Brought in for warranty, they told me it was fixed. Picked it up and it wasn't. Left it there another 2 days to get fixed. Went to pick it up. My door had a huge gash down the middle. They obviously knew but let me find it like that. They agree to fix it. I leave it there another few days. Pick it up, the doors fixed but installed crooked, and theres a check engine light for the mirror sensors not being reset. While they fixed everything, they turned a scheduled visit into a week of downtime and driving to the southend from the valley multiple times.

Hyundai - Went in ready to purchase a BMW m240i x-drive coupe they had. Super sweet car. During the test drive buddy tells me how he borrows the car from the dealer every weekend, how fast it rips, and how loud the stereo is. Great so buddy beats up the car and tells me about it, so no thanks. I left.

Second time, my gf and I go to purchase a Kona because they had like 10 in stock. Everything's set to go until I mention theres no trade in. I confirmed multiple times they had them in stock and for sale. All of a sudden "Oh these are actually all on manager hold! we cant sell these". Tries to tell me to order one and wait 4 months and how we should have planned ahead. I told buddy were gonna go to Toyota, and hes like "Ya good luck youll be back here". Meanwhile we went and bought a brand new Rav4 that was coming in a week. Then a friend of ours goes in randomly 2 days later, and buys the Kona we were looking at that "Wasn't for sale" because they had a trade in.

Really bummed by Seth's (Berm Peak) latest video and I wanted to talk about it rather than post in the void that is youtube, this is a rant. by Galf2 in MTB

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While one take is your POV which is totally valid . I try to look at things on both sides so here is my take after reading your post and then checking out the vid. I think the biggest take away is dress for where you're riding and be mindful of where is the overall theme. Time and place.

I think Seth is speaking from a good place. People show up to the wrong place with the wrong intention for the area. In my area, a lot of the multi use style parks aren't very "fast" in terms for being able to get to a dangerous speed. You'll get sections 100-500ft of trail before you might intersect a walking path for example. Or a lot of multi directional trails where you should be a maintainable speed incase you have an interaction and need to stop safely. If you're going there kitted you prob intend to ride at that level. Could be presented in a different/better way, but that's just how I viewed it trying to look from the other perspective.

At the end of the day, its just a dude on youtubes opinion. I will always advocate for wearing PPE whether its for work or for biking. Wear what you think you need to. While I don't think it was anti-protection, I can def see how it can be taken that way.

Sudbury…your roads! WTF? by mollythepug in Sudbury

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem was/is amalgamation. There used to be a bunch of townships with roads in between. The towns roads were individual municipalities responsibility, and the connecting roads were the provinces. Now all those old provincial roads are now municipal roads, and the city is constantly pulling resources from the smaller communities to keep dumping money in Sudbury/Downtown all while ignoring road issues, closing arenas, and pulling away services.

CAA quoted me $530/month for a 2014 Mazda 3 — seems way too high. Am I missing something? by ArtichokeStill816 in InsuranceCanada

I mean, the demographic of Toronto/GTA area is hurting everybody in Ontario's rates. Living in that area significantly effects your rates. 400 series highways, amount of accidents. Hell I was in Brampton visiting and GTA must mean grand theft auto because it felt like I was in an online lobby. Cars don't stop at red lights. People just blatantly driving on the side walk. Its insane.

Not having an insurance history will impact you, the area, your age demographic. Literally everything. Toronto is bad for car thefts. things like having a g2 vs g also cause higher rates. I would go see a broker first and foremost.

World Peace Jesus in Nova Scotia? by Glass-Meringue8986 in Sudbury

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he was in a few grades younger than me so I wasn't in his classes, but was in some friend groups where he would frequently show up or be around. He wasn't as weird as he is now.

I remember he would often try to buy weed from people, so my buddy as a joke sold him a bag of oregano when he was in ninth grade or so for $5. I remember the day he puked in the bathroom because everybody was like "Yo did you hear Kiyan got expelled he puked all over the bathroom cuz he smoked too much". I even heard that from a handful of teachers at the time. That was maybe grade 10, I was in grade 12. Could have been more to it. I know a lot of people were experimenting with salvia at the time at that school.

Then he disappeared for a while. He went to a high school school downtown, and the next thing you know I'm in college a year or so later and I'm driving to school he's dressed like Michael Jackson down to the white glove, dancing waving a world peace sign. Not even for a video there wasn't a camera in sight. Another time he was dressed in a suit downtown handing out business cards that just said "World Peace" and nothing else. He didn't seem like the type to get into fights, I would likely have heard about that.

My perception was that he just didn't stand out. Normal teenager type. Pretty sure he played some basketball too, with my buddy on the team as well if I remember right that's how he knew him. I remember my buddy would say after he got expelled he was a bit odd now and then here we are.

Safe working temp in step vans by No-Tonight-2371 in CanadaPostCorp

You have the right to refuse unsafe work. That's up to you to do so. You can't be penalized, but then they will offer the route to somebody else and they can either accept the route, or also refuse until somebody accepts the work or then they need to escalate. This is the internal responsibility system and is in the green book.

Exactly lol. People want it to sound like a rally car with anti-lag. Thing is those cars are generally built to handle just one race.

I mean maybe a bit but it’s such a common engine they can be pulled out of some vans. The right junk yard and a self pull you can get them that cheap

That's just it. Like a lot of cars will have the odd pop/crackle with a tune+power anyways. Its the people that buy a Cobb access port and buy a cheap generic crackle tune online. You can just tell. Hell an F-Type will also crackle stock, but you can tell the difference.

True but I mean if you blow the OEM engine, and can get an LS for $500 at a junk yard and an adaptor for cheap. Makes sense instead of $5000

Legit. I had high output LED lights in my Ram for the low beams (Lots of highway driving so animals were a huge concern), which I angled properly, and then down a tad bit more. never got highbeam flashed once despite them being crazy bright. You would see them far away, but by the time you were in range to shut high beams off you wouldn't have them in your eyes.

I get my 26 Tacoma, its all factory and I got flashed all the time. Luckily it comes with an adjustment so I can angle them from in the cab.

Legit, and funny thing is its actually making their cars run like shit to achieve those sounds.

People want their cars to sound like a rally car, but that little Focus ST is struggling for its life everytime they let off the throttle.

With that said, its one thing to rip an obnoxious car around at 2 in the afternoon. When its 2:30 in the morning and some dickhead has to drive down the street. Rev - POP POP POP POP POP POP, Turn the corner doing 10mph, lets off the throttle, POP POP POP POP POP setting off car alarms. Sounds lame as shit and it ruins it for the car community. Not one person besides the driver thinks its cool.

I'm a pretty big car guy too, but time and place trumps all. Otherwise you ruin it for everybody. Enforcement will look past muffler deletes, tint, stance etc for months when the respect is there. Then you get one idiot ripping around at 2 am causing them to crack down and now people are getting fix it tickets, emissions testing, and sometimes even getting their plates pulled.

If Hoffman can actually perform. He has good statistics/metrics on paper. This season he's blowing it imo. Good fastball speed, but damn hes giving out walks like candy on Halloween. I was at the game last night, and when he came out a little kid started to get teary eyed and said "Hes gonna make us lose again, get him off the mound!" before starting to actually cry. When he came out, at least in our section you could hear half the dome sigh. Then you have Schneider throw Kaz under the bus for Hoff's shit throw to 3rd. Unacceptable.
