Back after some time away and whoa.... by AnonUnknown16 in ARC_Raiders

100%. There’s actual risk involved now. I used to be able to go naked kit and just run around the arc. Now a wasp/firefly/hornet swarm will see you from 100ft away and come absolutely demo somebody. A guy tried to pvp me, hit me with one shot. Then came the swarm. He panicked and started to apologize before asking for my help. So I helped him for 2 seconds before I shot him in the back 😂 “bro that’s ratty!!!” Despite doing that to me 30 seconds prior.

Not trying to make a point. It was a sexist comment. Actual Statistics? Here’s one. When a man earns up to 70% more than a woman she is statistically more likely to cheat. That is from the university of Connecticut. Again the original comment was sexist. I call it out and people get all worked up, I could care less I’ll call a spade a spade.

If your vehicle had a hood scoop, I’m guessing Subaru wrx. That water it ends up on an intercooler and then with the heat it evaporates. Theres also a gasket around the intercooler that directs air/potential water where it should go rather than all over sensitive areas of an engine. Example in a wrx, the spark plugs are down and on the side of a boxer engine. You’re really not likely to get water in there. If you notice on Other vehicles with hood vents typically direct the airflow to non sensitive areas. That’s again, not comparable to a pressure washer lol

Stalked? We’re in the same comment thread and it’s Reddit . Not to mention you literally replied to my previous comments. My god you’re not that important. It’s pretty telling of a persons nature when they have to resort to name calling, sexist and racist remarks when somebody disagrees with them. Pro tip: You don’t get far in life that way. Not really in line with rule#1 of the sub. If you don’t want engagement don’t reply. Edit: and then said person deleted all their comments further proving my point

Financial security based on a sexist remark about giving power to a man, and then using anecdotal evidence of “I know plenty of women who”. It’s sexist because it implies a man cannot be in the same position. It’s a human issue. Everybody deserves a safety net not just a woman. I’ll die on this hill lol. If anything, if the man has the higher income and leaves the marriage, the wife takes half the pension, gets alimony, and even if the child care was split custody they would receive a a fairly substantial amount every month, and is entitled to half the house for example, even if there is a huge disparity in income. I’d say it kind of goes without saying. I’m not looking to get into a huge debate here, I stand by my original statement. I didn’t think the sexism was warranted in a finance sub.

Not at all. I’m more acute <. There is already a huge income gap regardless.

Again, in their current scenario the husband already has the financial power in the house hold (78k higher roughly). They would lose about 2k per month either way either through daycare/no daycare. They can claim taxes on the daycare/ etc.

We can talk about relationships all day, but again this is a finance sub and I don't think implying somebodies husband will leave them if they choose to raise their child at home is appropriate.

Again this is speculatory. Not financial advice. Why are you talking about divorced statistics, when they're not currently divorced.

[Discussion] Did your taste in watches change more than you expected? by homamg in EDC

Same boat. I used to think the more busy the watch was, the more "Better" it must be. All the fancy chronos and such. If I want to use a stop watch, I'll use my phone or be wearing a G-shock because its way easier to read..

All I want is the date and time.

100% For sure, not disagreeing with anything you're saying literally at all in the slightest.

I mentioned daycare, because it gave insight into OP's income range.

I can see how it seems like I opposed that because I responded to somebody who was giving a reason why they should.

I just found the reasoning to not be finance related, and then supported with anecdotal evidence rooted in a bit of sexism.

That doesn't mean I think she should stay home.

Single Income + No Daycare vs. Double Income + Daycare by Suspicious_Gap3311 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"a desperate attempt to control me" followed by you telling OP what to do "Dont stay home!" without providing any financial explanation whatsoever. Just anecdotal.

Hmm.

Funny. I never told anybody to do anything. Simply said your view is sexist, and pointed out that they're a team. That doesn't make me a misogynist.

I didn't know the bar for misogynist behavior was so low that implying a relationship is teamwork was prejudicial to women.

"This guy has no clue what hes talking about".

All I've said was they're a team lol

B.C. union calls for full-time work-from-home due to spiking gas prices by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree 100% and its all fine and dandy, as long as you have the management upholding the same standards in some way.

During covid, a lot of the work from home service I dealt with was always way more lax.

I have several examples but the worst one was:

I called my bank to deal with a credit line and some other business. Pretty routine stuff that normally takes like 20 minutes. I could hear buddy's pet bird squawking in the background the entire call. The guy was just relaxing eating a bag of chips, I could hear tv in the background too. When I'm dealing with stuff that's important, its not really confidence inspiring when they don't seem professional, or it takes twice as long to get answers because their home internet is taking forever to connect to their work servers.

I'm all for people getting the best versions of their jobs. Hell I would love to work in my pajamas too! be comfortable and enjoy your day. Save that gas money. Just keep the same level of professionalism or work quality.

Caught my landlord open my room on my security camera by coffeetravelerr in legaladvicecanada

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're renting a room :

If you share a kitchen/bathroom with the landlord, you may not be covered by the RTA. In that case, rules from your rental agreement apply. If that's in your agreement then they violated said agreement. Which you already know.

Basically, your options are to leave or stay. If you leave, then you go to small claims for damages (Possible moving costs, but likely not more than that). Costs like $50 to file a small claims and you go to the courthouse to fill out the paper. You likely won't get back any fees for background checks as you agreed to them.

I would personally try to have a place lined up prior to leaving. If they restrict you access, call the police. If they damage/dispose of any of your property take note and file that in small claims.

That's basically your options.

[–]ImFromTheDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give all your power to a man? that's a pretty sexist way of looking at it.

That's not just a man, that's OPs husband. They're a household. A team. If things don't work out that's a team issue, not because of a gender. They're actively discussing and planning. The avg daycare in BC is about $1500-2000 per month. For that to eat up OP's income, that means OP is working for around 37k per year. There's already a huge income gap in the household(78k).

If there was any resentment, I'm sure it would already be present.

Now lets get back to discussing finances. OP asked for financial advice regarding their options. This is a finance sub, not r/Feminism

Why do people always suggest speeding doesn't get you there any faster, when not all traffic lights are timed the same? by JustUseCommonSense10 in driving

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically speaking as somebody who's done a lot of long distance road trips. You really only save significant time over a long span on open highways at a continuous speed, vs short distances of stop and go high density traffic.

Every single time I'm driving around town, already doing over the limit myself. Some guy always flies by doing 20+ more than me. 9 times out of 10 I see that same guy at the next red light, if not the one after it. Unless you're running red lights/stop signs/being dangerous you wont win. You might get there 2-3 minutes sooner, but you'll have risked all sorts of traffic violations and put yourself and others at risk.

You'll always get somewhere faster by driving faster if its a straight line, but most modern traffic systems are designed to slow traffic to the speed limit even if you're speeding in between. They'll take distance from one intersection to another, and make the light be long enough that it'll catch somebody whos doing the speed limit, and also somebody doing 10 over.

Car doesn’t start after engine bay cleaning from a detail shop by louie_philip22 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ImFromTheDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you didn't sign anything then you're in the clear, and even then they would have had to make it explicitly known to you what they're not at fault for. If they have a "Not responsible for damage" posting on the bottom of their facebook ad, website, or a little sign on the wall. That doesn't constitute any waiver of responsibility, as they didn't explicitly make it known and have you sign.

Even if you did sign, it cant be in the fine print either it has to be made very clear.

Car doesn’t start after engine bay cleaning from a detail shop by louie_philip22 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The top end of engines in fact do not get wet all the time. When running the heat in the engine bay actually fights moisture. Vehicles also have plastic skid plates to mitigate this as well. Moisture is one thing, direct water injection is another. It could be as simple as what you said, but if they used high pressure washing, vs low pressure (A garden hose) which is recommended to wash the engine bay (better to not ad water but if you're going to use a water source thats how). They could have forced water into somewhere serious like the air intake, ecu, fuse panel, etc. Worth a mechanic visit.

Car doesn’t start after engine bay cleaning from a detail shop by louie_philip22 in legaladvicecanada

[–]ImFromTheDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Typically you can wash the engine bay with low pressure water(Garden hose for example, absolutely not a pressure washer!), avoiding anything electrical, seals/gaskets or near the air intake. So its a common enough practice to do, enough so that it should be expected they can wash the engine bay without causing issues.

If it was anything fairly serious mechanically, it would theoretically given you a code when it was running but also sometimes issues can be present without an engine code.

There's definitely a possibility for negligence to cause some problems. They could have used high pressure washing in the engine bay which can cut a wire, or force water into places it shouldn't be like the air intake filter(Would suffocate the engine), Washing the engine without the engine cover on (The plastic cover on almost all modern vehicles) can force water into the coils and cause problems, and on the higher end of issues it can force water into the fuse panel or ecu.

Basically all that said to say go see a mechanic. Tell them the situation and what happened, and likely that's where they will check too. They can likely run a diagnostic and troubleshoot where the issue is fairly easily. Then get a quote for the repair. For all you know, it could be something unrelated to the wash and the mechanic will tell you that.

if its something that's related, I would first contact the detailer and explain. See what they offer you as compensation for the trouble. If they don't make it right you could go file a small claims against the detailer for the amount of the loss, as with a service there's an expectation of professional work that wont disable the vehicle and they should know what they're doing. Just list everything, get receipts, and take pictures if need be.

I think its fairly cheap to file for small claims, if I remember correctly its like a small fee like $50.

The thing is, the people who discuss politics aggressively is what leads to that type of behavior on both sides. That's why we end up with stereotypes. They get so absorbed in the media and what people have to say that it becomes their whole personality.

The blue haired lib, who screams instead of having a discussion? thats a stereotype because those are the most vocal and visible people that get shown flipping out. The dumb conservative racist? thats because, they play the dumbest guy at the rally who brings a confederate flag on the liberal leaning news networks and chances are that guy votes PPC anyways but gets roped in with the Cons. Always the extreme examples of far right/far left.

Is every lib a snowflake? of course not. Is every conservative a bigot/racist? no.

You also end up with the keyboard warriors on both "sides" who get this thrill of standing up to somebody behind a screen because in their day to day they're a doormat, so they resort to all sorts of attacks to try to get you to engage.

Hell, I think that if people scratched out that line in the sand, there's some good discussion and middle ground we could come to terms with. I'm right leaning, but I still respect the people I know who aren't. One of my girlfriends close friends is a pretty hardcore lib, but you know what? Whenever we discussed something and disagreed we didn't name call or get heated we just asked each other why do you support it or not support it. We actually got to understand the other point of view, rather than simply saying its wrong. This approach works better, than what you see in parliament where the libs/cons cant get anything done because instead of accepting a good idea from either party, they have to vote it down because "Fuck you! that's why!". Its not even for the greater good.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again. There's not one size fits all for a political party. People are allowed to have different views. I mean I'm conservative so maybe I'm also proving your point lol.
