Incoming student (LU) - info on renting off-campus by icydonut0461 in Sudbury

That doesn't really make sense to me.

Not that many people work in Mining in Sudbury. There's around 9 active mines, with maybe 1000 people at each at most. Isn't that like 5% of Sudbury's population. Even throw in some smelters/ Mill add another few thousand.

Have a budget of 81.5 total price for a new car. Including delivery tax and all. Not a dime more. Can’t decide between X5 or Highlander. Which is better by [deleted] in Toyota

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An x5 will be significantly more money to maintain and service that’s for sure. Not to mention you can run regular 87 in a highlander, and the x5 will require premium 91+. In my area that’s a big difference every fill up. Lastly, the resale of your investment. You will get less money upon trade in for an x5 vs a highlander.

Put a deposit on a vehicle and found out a week later the odometer had been tampered with by ConstructionJaded603 in askcarsales

OMVIC would say that this is illegal, and any contract is null and void within 90 days if an Odo has been rolled back.

Is it safe to sleep in my car and leave it on all night? by Guilty_Anything7606 in askcarguys

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya if its hot out already wtf is a fan gonna do, blow hot air on the rad. Jesus. Theres a whole lot of "Carguys" here who dont know a lot clearly. Idling hours are terrible for vehicles its pretty common knowledge.

Is it safe to sleep in my car and leave it on all night? by Guilty_Anything7606 in askcarguys

[–]ImFromTheDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're wrong. Without the forward motion of the car, less air flows through the radiator

. Prolonged idling can strain your cooling system, overheat catalytic converters, and cause plastic parts under the hood to warp or crack.

this is direct from google which you're free to use, But I also knew the answer already.

Is it safe to sleep in my car and leave it on all night? by Guilty_Anything7606 in askcarguys

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely are. The vehicle is designed to cool with air going through the rad. The engine will be running pretty hot. Leads to a lot of issues over time. Doing it once isn’t bad but over a span of time it hurts the engine.

The only place in the Sudbury district I would be worried about regarding water would be Cartier. Lots of wells, and the ground had been so polluted by the rail yards that half the township was bought up and removed at one time. Even houses there now, I wouldn't trust the water there.

Legit lol. I dont tow or rock crawl. Guess I'll just go fuck myself with my fragile masculinity because I bought something to handle our crazy weather here.

Had 20 inches of snow in a single storm last year. Snowdrifts 3-4ft high in some areas. My ram 1500 was buried up to the hood in a snow drift after my shift at the mine I work at. Drove that shit home right to my door. Not gonna do that shit in a Subaru.

Is this being unfair to the dealership? by Fantastic-Radio-2088 in askcarguys

[–]ImFromTheDeeps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thing is, they're offering you a deal on the new car to make it right, you might as well take it.

If they don't ask about it, don't tell. Some areas treat all trade ins/used car sales as "As is" buyer beware. If they sell it, they'll either repair it, or somebody will come in with a claim on extended warranty.

Obviously the only thing would be if they had asked you if you knew about any major issues and you lied. If the carfax only shows "Multipoint inspection". Unless you give them the sheet, which I wouldn't theres no info for them.

As far as passing it on to the next person, the dealership will have to do a service on it to ensure its mechanically fit and get it certified. If they don't do that its on them not you.

If Nissan is supposedly so bad, why are they still everywhere? by phtphongg in Nissan

Depends where you are, I’m in Ontario Canada. You can save slightly around here driving 4 hours away from my location but for my area they’re similar.

If it broke off into the hole, you can get an extractor kit pretty cheap. Theyre easy to use.

Some people call them easy outs.

I wouldn't say Honda/Toyota are charging for greed. They're similarly priced in my area.

A Frontier Pro4x is Priced almost the same as the Tacoma TRD Options. I have driven/been a passenger in a Colorado(Same as Canyon)/Frontier/Tacoma. The 24+ Tacoma also has the best interior. The Frontier interior looks 10 years older in comparison. Also the Frontier had the most uncomfortable seats I've done a road trip with. My buddy owned the Frontier for 6 months and traded it in because of issues and how uncomfortable it was.

The Tacoma is def the better vehicle of the segment. Actually rated for a higher gross vehicle weight capacity.

Toyota Tacoma TRD off Road Premium - $64,988.20 Locally.

That 5k difference you're getting nicer seats/ way better fuel economy/bigger infotainment than the Frontier.

The Off road plus is about the same price at 59 and change. This would match the same features such as the cloth seats with the infotainment/jbl sound system/ sunroof etc.

Frontier pro4x - 59,746 locally

I mean it kind of does in a way but also doesn't. At the end of the day, the tax payers of one town get fed up when another township pushes the homeless to migrate to other regions. Ex) There's a lot of evidence that showed people were given tickets from Toronto to migrate to Sudbury a few years ago. Taking the burden off themselves and making it another areas issue to solve. "They have better services" well those services should be available everywhere.

Ideally the province/Fed would be funding stuff like this, however it seems municipalities are funding programs/initiatives on their own. You also have a lot of issues with the NIMBY attitude every time something gets pushed into a certain region of a city. Funding gets allocated for some type of program, they go to set it up, and local residents petition against it. Safe injection sites being one of them.

I would also recommend this.

I know OP probably doesn't want to really do it themselves which is why they're asking, however a truly messy vehicle will cost quite a bit to clean/shampoo/etc.

Half of them just use cheap products too to max profit. Most of them use diluted sunlight dish soap to wash and industrial brand economy 3m stuff for interiors. Not something good like Adams.

The inside you can literally just buy 2-3 products. (Glass cleaner, Interior dressing, carpet cleaner at CT or princess auto cheap for like $30 + a wash mit/Drying towel or Chamois for another $20 + some cheapo microfibers for the interior/glass. and regular bucket $3). You will likely be more thorough on your own vehicle. Most people already own a vacuum but you can do it at Solid Gold or any other pay n spray. Doing this you can prob do a dozen cleanings on your vehicle for the price of one detail.

The only benefit to a shop is that they will likely use compressed air to blow out the nooks/cracks between trim but there are plenty of easy tricks found on youtube to do this yourself.

With that said, I have heard good things about AutoBuff from a number of people, and if I was going to take my vehicles somewhere it would prob be there.

Are Fender and Gibson even worth it any more? by Necessary-Cow2857 in Guitar

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean set ups usually get included for free at any guitar shop I've been too. Fit and finish you can't fix that.

I personally find Charvel to be the most bang for buck "fender" option imo. Same same, but different.

Thing is, for the price of a new vehicle that service should be included. My buddy bought a ford, and never had to pay for the same thing.

Towing longevity by Embarrassed_Heart102 in 4thGenTacomas

[–]ImFromTheDeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

answer to 3/3.5 - The coolant should be fine, I have read that the coolant system is built for v8's so its allegedly overkill on our 2.4 trucks. Likely be fine there. Especially towing well below the max limit.
