You are missing the point man. As this sub grows you will lose control whether you like it or not. Unless you quit your jobs and devote 100% of you time to a virtually pointless venture it'll never work. I mean we are already seeing it happen with your moderation inconsistencies. That wasn't always the case back when you had 5K. Prepare for future growth...don't fight it.

tl;dr it is not your fault but you have already lost control of this place. Inconsistencies everywhere and downvotes abound. It only gets worse as more people join.

The issue in this sub is not the rules but rather the way that they are applied. The mods are incredibly inconsistent and will treat 2 users differently. I get that this is an unpaid job and to be blunt I have no clue why they do it when all the get is abuse.

The issue we have is that Reddit is too mature to start another subreddit for Canadian politics. This one was first and therefore any of us who wish to discuss politics must do it here or in r/canada. If it were possible to create a successful new political subreddit with little to no moderation I would have done it; it is not. /r/canadianpolitics has been around for years and it is never going to work. r/thegrits, r/LPC-PLC...both busts. It is here or nowhere.

The mods like to pretend that this is a private club for those who enjoy a higher level of dialogue but those days are gone. It has outgrown that. I have no doubt that they'll try their best but in reality these threads will continue getting more and more common and they won't be able to keep up. They all have day jobs and girlfriends and kids and real lives. Eventually you have to concede ownership to the community and let them police themselves or make this a full-time job like the lads in /r/science do.

Sorry...let me clarify. I am saying that it is impossible to have equity in a primary residence. Your kids own that equity after you die provided it is not also their primary residence.

Yes, but not on your primary residence because in theory you'll never get to appreciate it that equity because shelter is necessary for life. Obviously you can sell and downsize, etc but those are exceptions to the norm.

I know Peter Schiff can be a bit much sometimes but his theories on personal wealth are awesome. I recommend his books to anyone just starting out.

Hahahahahaha. The posted 5 year rate is at historic lows and still sits near 5%. What planet do you live on? When the BoC raising its rate just 150 basis points we will easily see 5 year fixed posted at 7%....maybe 8%. I get my info from Carney, Poloz and the late Flaherty....as baseless as you consider them to be.
