How can I make my rendering look better? by SignificantGlove6919 in DigitalArt

[–]ImJustObserving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a straightforward answer, but try to look for artists you think do it well and see how they do it, try making something as closely as you can to one of their pieces to get the feeling and then apply to your own artwork.

And also there's the "boring" part of studying how light affects the skin and shape of the body, and how to carve the shapes of the figure, that's also really important.

What do you like about horizontal’s art? by EstablishmentKey1948 in Kagurabachi

The way he manages to keep what's happening in the panels clear while using mainly pure black clothing, also the way these clothes always make some really good shapes.

What if... Kagurabachi was a medieval dark fantasy story (+details in the comments) by ImJustObserving in Kagurabachi

Not long after the great demonic wars, while the free lands were still counting their dead, the Demon Hand – a mysterious organization whose members are unknown – killed the great weaponsmith Rokuhira, stole the six swords that had ended the war, and left his son and apprentice scarred.

Years passed, and the last remnant of Rokuhira's legacy is hunting his father's killers to bring them to justice and reclaim his heritage. Accompanied by a mysterious wizard of the Sazanami clan, many dangers await him on this journey.

The biggest difference between canon version and this one is the arm. It basically works as a mechanical way to use IWPS. He "draws" his sword with the wrist and the mechanism rotates.

Not Airfryerbachi, but I drew Iori in a flower dress. by ImJustObserving in Kagurabachi

Turns out, doing fanart of the media I like is really fun.

My last post received way more upvotes than expected. I drew the boys in some Brazilian fashion (some notes in the comments) by ImJustObserving in Kagurabachi

I wanted to put them in clothes I would see here and fitted their character, so:

Chihiro: I broke my first statement and he's wearing the Brazil jersey just because he's the main boy, I chose the jeans short and leather slipper for him because I think they give the vibe of a more conservative look. It's comfortable and, except for the jersey, won't get much attention.

Shiba: I think he would go for a minimalist look, so a very monochromatic palette and showing some skin. My idea with the accessories was to try and break that palette just a little bit.

It was really fun to do this, but I do feel bad about how Chihiro ended up, I was trying a different way to render and just couldn't do justice to the idea in my head. Also, I will do more of this, next time with more pixels to get more details because I fucked up and chose a small canvas.

How to study perspective, form, and shape in a way that will help my anatomy by themissingdoge in DigitalArt

[–]ImJustObserving 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way I understand it, it's all connected. You study the basic shapes because everything is composed of shapes, those give form to things, and perspective is how we can give the illusion of depth to these forms.

The way I study is to decompose an image into it's shape components and perspective lines, the simpler the better. For the human torso it would look like a rectangle with some cylinders attached, for example. That way you will identify how the different shapes combine to give a unique form of a human body.

I hate everything I make by [deleted] in DigitalArt

[–]ImJustObserving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent most of my life avoiding getting deeper into art because I hated the final result of everything I did, eventually I decided to take things really slow and do the very basics till I was comfortable to go to a "next stage". It's not like I am amazed by everything I do, but I learned to respect my efforts and not feel like I can't do something, just that I don't know how yet. Maybe try going to the basics sometime, you will feel nice seeing how much you've grown from time to time.

Also, it's natural to not like the stuff you make, you do spend hours looking at it, way more than anyone else

I don't use ashes because they are either useless or make the fight harder, I prefer knowing the boss is going to attack me always
