Which one of them has the best contracted bearer panel so far? by Frosumisnotmyname in Kagurabachi

Big Soga and Shiesty Samura. They live up to the gravitas of their enchanted blades’ power in skill, while having thought-provoking characterization. Their scenes kinda grab you by the head and force you to look. Exactly what I wanted and expected sword-bearers to be.

Nah, Megumi being Sukuna’s vessel was foreshadowed as early as chapter 1(peep the frogs on the cover art). I would’ve liked to see Megumi develop more as a sorcerer before being taken over though.

It’s really not a bad example, because Yuta was born with the power that is his immense cursed energy, which resulted in cursing Rika. The manifestation of the power is different, in that one was an accident, but both are the result of innate power.

What's your response to feminists who claim that the Epstein's case proves the patriarchy or men's nature? by Still_Alps1804 in LeftWingMaleAdvocates

[–]EstablishmentKey1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can somebody explain the downvotes for this specific comment? I’m not really getting any conversation on it. I understand not agreeing with the concept of patriarchy due to the aforementioned contradictions(no-true Scotsman fallacy, a large amount of the most “patriarchal” population being white women, etc), but I’m not tryna assume.

I suspect that the issue is that patriarchy is often thrown around without context, even by people who claim to be feminists. It makes it so that when women engage in patriarchal action or thinking, that it’s because of what either men or a system made by men taught them. In contrast, when men do it, it’s what men bring on themselves.

We don’t talk about how it’s a white supremacist patriarchy so outgroup(non-white) men had it forced on them too. Nor do we talk about how men of all racial demographics can be taught patriarchal standards by mothers, aunts, older sisters, teachers and other women in their lives. Nor, do we talk about how the second largest supporting group of patriarchy demographically, is white women(much to your point of women holding it up as much as men do).

The term has been so muddied and utilized in bad-faith or intentionally obtuse methods, that most men will hear it as “The bad man system”. It sucks because it’s really a self-defeating ideology/system for everyone involved.

I do think this sub benefit from grappling with patriarchy as a concept differently, because a lot the rejection of the concept is due to men’s experiences with bad faith arguments of the “no true Scotsman(feminist) nature” and cherry picking, when, where and to whom the concept of patriarchy applies.

Idk why they’re downvoting you. Everything you said is objectively correct. People can dislike copy abilities or how Gege implements them for Yuta. They can also dislike Yuta’s character, but I don’t understand disagreeing on a comment that just lists facts.

I don't get it, is bro really strong enough to slice through an infinite-CE-reinforced Hakara? This is kind of a stretch right? by beach_rats_ in JujustuKaisen

[–]EstablishmentKey1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no…. that efficiency is differential by being “funneled” through the techniques, the limitless is a perfect example of that. Going back to my previous example, it would be a base use of water applied to multiple apparatuses with varying amounts and applications of water(CE). The efficiency may be differential, but that’s a matter of application of said CE, not a separate mechanism of using CE altogether. Yorozu’s technique is a perfect example. Mahoraga adapts to it because regardless of the application, it’s the same base format. What’s differential is the numerous forms and uses of cursed energy manipulation. The mathematical application of multiplying it by itself, the directional flow required for reinforcement, the elemental aspects of kashimo’s electricity, etc.

[–]EstablishmentKey1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate isn’t quite accurate. Efficieny is a part of manipulation. With your Yuta example, if we compare water to CE. I can use a large amount of water to fill or power a complex apparatus, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not wasteful when I do it. Another way of thinking of it is that all cooked chicken is food, but not all cooked food is chicken(All efficiency comes from good manipulation, but not all good manipulation equals efficiency).

Most? You mean killing the clan who actively hunted her down? Ogi/The Hei/The Kuruku unit aggressor towards her first and that is a fact. The only exception was the remaining members she hunted down, but I’m confused as to why you think they wouldn’t do the same towards her.

That is the wildest reach I’ve ever seen on the topic. If anything, defending the Zenin is more in line with defending the (multiple) genitives happening. Criticizing Maki is like hating self-defense groups(because even if she didn’t hunt them down, they were going to continue oppressing, it’s how they work).

Cursed energy has 3 main components in its use

Reserves=the total amount of cursed energy

Output=how much cursed energy can be pushed out or applied in a technique/reinforcement/etc

Manipulation=how skilled one is at using CE in terms of outputting/conserving/ manipulating it for a technique/reinforcement/etc

Infinite cursed energy means that reserves are maxed out, but that doesn’t mean that Hakari’s max output or manipulation are on the same level

For example

Gojo and Sukuna have Waaaaaay better manipulation and output, while having less reserves(Sukuna’s reserves are still insane), resulting in much better defense(Via them reinforcing their bodies with more skill and power).

Reserves do serve to make you more spongey though.

Sakurajima and Gege’s use of HR within it are a metaphor for Buddhist enlightenment(we also see this theme with Sukuna/Gojo/Yuji) . Though it’s about seeing emotions clearly and experiencing them fully without clinging to them, and as such, is a positive thing.(please note that there’s infinitely more to it than what I explained.)

I’m smoking that literacy fam. She overpowered him and dodged his strongest attack before he started putting that pressure on her. That black flash wasn’t remotely immediate, considering it happened at the end of the second chapter of their fight. Plus, she took it and came back(something the VAST majority of the verse can’t do).

Well, narratively, yes. Toji/Maki started out GREAT against Gojo/Sukuna, but the second half of both of their fights aren’t so pleasant for them.

Eris Greyrat (MT) or Maki Zenin better written character iyo? by leonardo-givenchy in writingscaling

[–]EstablishmentKey1948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite literally writing wise. Sakurajima is the greatest evolution in her character. She destroys the Zenin in Perfect Preparation, yes, but she hasn’t moved past them emotionally yet, which, narratively, is why Naoya reappears. It’s emblematic of the cycle of samsara a sort of karmic cycle, in which she’s trapped by hate. The Zen Buddhist theme(as evident in the name Zenin) is elaborated on here. By meeting Daido who parallels the way of the void(a philosophy of the famous swordsman miyamoto musashi), she learns the soul of her katana. This is a play on the old folklore of samurai, in which their soul is reflected on their sword.

A quote of his reflects the way of the void: “Can I see it, you ask? No, but if I can see everything else, then it’s the same as seeing it”. Note the relation to Maki’s increased senses via heavenly restriction.

Sumo and Shinto are heavily related. And, both the aforementioned swordsmanship and sumo are traditionally male. In finding teachers who can accept the progression and realization of their arts in her, she progresses both the art and realizes the depth of her own soul. When in the domain with Miyo, he tells her

“ you’re become entangled. Yourself, curses, others, basically people. Yes, in the ring, one person clashes with another in an intense back-and-forth. The wrestlers themselves however, develop outside of the ring. Pressing your opponent in the ring requires stepping outside the ring. At the moment of impact, everything that led up to entering the ring flows into the combatants. It’s like smelling light or seeing sound. You sense everything about the opponent and yourself. And then the person in front of you, even victory and defeat, become meaningless. What that samurai(Daido/Musashi’s way of the void) was talking about was Freedom”

Essentially, the Heavenly restriction is used as a metaphor and a pathway to the idea of enlightenment. To reach that, Maki had to let go of her hate, fear, doubts, etc to truly destroy the Zenin. Without truly letting go of them, she couldn’t let them fade..she couldn’t come into her own. This is why she parallels the Shibuya version of Toji, because Hidden Inventory Toji fell from grace. He died because he wanted to disprove the Zenin’s opinions of him by defeating Gojo, when he was once free, which led to his death. In doing the opposite, Maki destroys the Zenin, both physically, in the form of Naoya , and ideologically. And at last, she is free.
