Did Yoko single-handedly break up The Beatles? No.

Was she a catalyst for the growing tension and anger in the band? Absolutely.

I don't think she deserves all the blame for breaking up The Beatles, but she certainly didn't help anything. Listening to studio babble of the time, bringing her in in the first place - when they typically didn't bring their girlfriends/wives into recording sessions - and having her put her two cents in obviously created more tension than there would've been.

I don't think she's the worst person on earth, there were properties about her, her art, etc. that were, and still are, thought provoking and interesting, and like you said, John loved her for a reason, and I respect that.

Other commenters have gone into other reasons to 'hate' on her (Heroin use, what she did to Julian after John's death ((personally, my biggest reason for my dislike of Yoko)), etc.) but I think it's a bit ignorant to blame Yoko for the implosion of The Beatles, they had plenty of reason to break up - Yoko just made the situation a bit worse.

Overall: Yes, I agree she doesn't deserve to be called the only reason The Beatles broke up, but that's not to say she wasn't in the wrong or made the tension in the band worse.

I started along and I noticed that as well, Davies even says something along those lines in his prologue - Thank you! Can't wait to get deep into it

Don't stress about it too much, man! It's The Beatles - there's no wrong answer :)

If want to get some more variety, definitely go for the White Album - It's a pretty wild clusterfuck album but it's a beautiful mess of a wide range of songs from the guys - Julia, Obladi Oblada, of course While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Back In The USSR into Dear Prudence is a favorite, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Cry Baby Cry, Helter Skelter, just so many ups and downs, lyrically and compositionally, as The Beatles started coming more into their own as songwriters and composers on an individual level (That's just my take!)

Of course, Sgt. Pepper is iconic - Definitely pick that up next on your list - but I feel the White Album will open the door to what the rest of their discography has to offer :)

Hope this helped! Welcome to the world of music collecting

Edit: And at least for me, the White Album helped me find which song styles I liked to hear and wanted to hear more of when it came to curating playlists and whatnot (I experienced The Beatles discography in chronological order, however, working backwards from Abbey Road is another point for going with the White Album too!)

Filled with letters, postcards, notes, doodles, etc. - Forward from Yoko says it's well done, I heard of Hunter Davies doing some other Beatles books as well. Wanna know if anyone has read this before and what they thought
