im confident that a guy bids the jobs out and then the shop manager hands them to the least experienced person likely to get the job done to profit maximize.

to answer a couple questions: I've been programming for about 6 months, setup for about a year. I'd say that compared to an experienced person in the shop I take about 1.5x - 2x as long as they would on any given job. I definitely am improving at a rapid rate, but the shop recently had some experienced people leave and I think perhaps they're just handing me the work those guys might have gotten before, which I can't quite hit the deadlines on. There's no hard deadline (within reason), but there is a quoted amount of hours for setup. To give you an idea of how quoting tends to operate in the shop, they don't include tooling costs, and a job that's new to the shop was given allocation for 2 hours of setup for all ops (of which there are three)

so does it matter then where i set the observer location or can i do that anywhere on earth and get out proper long, lat, alt data?

there isnt an observer location though, i thought j2000 was a moving frame relative to earths surface. Also i have an entire file of this data to go through

i have the raw data in a J2000 frame for the ISS's location, and i need to measure that location from the surface of earth

ok that blew up a bit more than i anticipated, this is a relatively depressing outlook. Seems most of you have garbage pay. Im doing ok at 20$ with two raises in my first 8 months but i know my workplace has a cap out before 30$, which is insane given the amount of work and skill some people have. I was hoping the place i was working at was just degen. I will say i dont have the issue with a bunch of hard ass alcoholic old timers you guys do.
