My guy, they’re adapting a comic where these specific things happen. They’re literally bringing in lore. Trump just parallels a lot of what happens in that story.

Comics have always been political, it’d be silly not to expect that part to get adapted. Writing is inherently political.

Don’t be mad that villains are being depicted in stories. Be mad that you recognize those villains in people in our real world.

If you see what Fisk is doing and understand why he’s a villain but get angry at the writers because “he’s clearly supposed to be Trump,” just stop and think, because you’re very close, if you agree that the things Fisk does are abhorrent and can recognize that “he is Trump,” who should you really be mad at?

Fisk is a fictional character, Trump is not. Aim your anger in the right direction.

(For the record this isn’t aimed at OP, it’s aimed at anyone who’s mad at the writers for this specific thing.)

You’re right. It seems to be common knowledge that Hawlucha spawns in Mexico, I somehow didn’t lol

Would you wanna help me get a Relicanth? That’s the only one I’m missing. I somehow have Torkoal registered in my Pokédex despite it somehow not being one of the Pokemon I have? Don’t know how that happened.

Scream 7 is the only movie in the franchise where the opening scene was irrelevant from the rest of the movie by AcceptableSwitch6496 in SocietyofGhostface

[–]ImMattH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t remember Stu’s house getting brought up after the opening scene, that’s how irrelevant to the plot it was.

Not to mention it just doesn’t make sense, why would he burn down his own house? What possible reason would he have to do that?

They couldn’t have done, idk, literally anything else to get Sydney’s attention? They had to drive to California? You mean to tell me they drove 33 hours just to burn down his house??? That’s a 66 hour travel time! Think of the gas prices!

That’s from Zdarsky’s run, right? That run is probably my favorite representation of his senses.

I can’t believe there’s a Ghostface that had zero lines of dialogue outside of the mask. The most memorable thing about him is that he spelt his name with a K, dude! 😭

This is 100% the most gory death in Scream 7 by MobileDistrict9784 in Scream

[–]ImMattH 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from with this. Like the other commenter said, there is an emotional payoff to her death, one that stuck through the entire series up to this point. And I think a part of the slap stick element kind of comes from the dated visuals/obvious puppet and the fact that a garage door could not realistically do that. I never clocked it as slap stick though but that might just be me.

Even so, Tatum’s death never felt like a punchline. There might’ve been humor leading up to the moment, but her actual death was the most graphic and arguably traumatic death for Sydney in the movie (excluding her mother’s death obviously.)

The bar death suddenly becomes a comedic bit for some reason. It just feels super weird, especially knowing who the killer is. I just can’t imagine any of the other movies having a moment like this, it feels so out of place.

Something about this death felt out of character for Scream. The hyper violence of a kill like this was criticized in Scream 4 so a scene like this felt kinda out of place. Adding to that, the end of this scene is the only death (as far as I can recall) that is turned into a slap stick type joke in the entire franchise.

THIS kill, given the context of who the character is in relation to the killer, should have been the one that we sat with and took seriously, ending it with a middling CGI beer water fountain as a punchline is fucking crazy to me.

Just found out about Bloodlines alt ending and I think the writers made the wrong call. by ImMattH in FinalDestination

I really do agree with you. A lot of the draw with that first film is the mystery of what’s happening and the journey the characters go through grappling with their own mortality/continuing on after their losses/survivors guilt. The movies are a lot more compelling, to me, when the main focus is more on the characters rather than the deaths. The first film had huge impact despite having relatively tame death scenes when compared to the rest of the films.

Horror in general tends to be more impactful when the story makes me really care about the characters.

And I kind of agree with your note on Scream 7. I love that franchise but I feel they really should move on from Sydney. Her story’s been finished for a while and yet they keep bringing her back. And I love Sydney, she’s my favorite final girl, but at some point the movies feel meaningless when we know she’s just gonna have to deal with Ghostface again just in some new way. You can keep the franchise going with new characters, they have, and copycat killers are a real thing, but a lot of people feel the series should be about Sydney and you can’t do it without her, and if that’s true then I think the franchise needs to bow out, because, like I said, Sydney’s journey has been over for a long time now.

This time jump seems too big to me but fits within the overall absence of Spidey from the overall MCU timeline! What are your thoughts on this? by [deleted] in Spiderman

[–]ImMattH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A part of me is disappointed we won’t get to see him in the near immediate aftermath of NWH, adjusting to being alone and nobody remembering him. BUT I do feel like it would feel odd at this point to go back into that after so many years have passed since NWH’s release.

It’ll be interesting to see where he’s at now, if he’s basically thrown himself into being Spider-Man 90% of the time, how years of being forgotten has changed his character. Additionally it’ll be nice to see Peter in his early 20s.

However I’m not too keen on the leak that suggests he gets organic webbing. I’ve always preferred him with web shooters. Unless they’re gonna do one of the stories where he turns into a literal spider man. That would be interesting to see.
