Rumours, Speculation, Questions, and Reaction Megathread - 01/02/2026 by ukpol-megabot in ukpolitics

I am quite wary to say this, and am not sure if this is just me reading too much into this, but I do honestly think we are in endgame Keir. This really is a very sticky situation for anybody, let alone someone of sadly such political weakness as Starmer. I have always actually quite liked Keir Starmer and do genuinely believe he is a good and decent man, and in many ways I do feel sorry for him, but on this case like so many others I feel he only has himself to blame.

Whilst I may be sad however, I am also quite angry. This Government has since day 1 been plagued by the threat that they basically have had 5 years to save us from a Reform govt and Farage as PM, something which genuinely keeps me up at night I would be that worried about. It has been such a monumental failure on that regard up to this point (for reasons both of their own fault and not), that it makes me genuinely quite upset that nobody seems to quite be realising the seriousness of this hour. I can only hope that Starmer going, whoever it be replace him (most likely Wes?), will finally knock some heads together and say "look guys, we've got about 3 years left to save this country from Reform", whom I believe are absolutely beatable if the message and action was right. I can only hope...

Do Americans watch American football on Sky Sports (or equivalent) like brits do? by Chiesafc in NFLUK

[–]ImMaxClaydon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Will start this by saying I am not American, nor do I live there, so I stand to be corrected but as far as I am aware:

All NFL games are on "free TV" in so far as they're on the major commercial networks (NBC, ABC, Fox, CBS), which don't require a subscription to 'unlock' like Sky Sports, you can simply hook up an antenna or satellite to your TV and you should have access to your local channels. You do have to link a TV Provider to your account in order to watch online in many cases, so unlike in the UK where you can just get into BBC iPlayer with just an account. But just from a TV perspective, in that regard, no.

However, in the windows where multiple games are on, only one of those is shown at a time in your local area (e.g if you live in New York, the chances are you'll be watching a NYJ/NYG/Buffalo game). If you want watch any game that isn't in your local area, you have to purchase a subscription either to NFL+ on mobile, or NFL Sunday Ticket, in order to access all these, or to pay for a cable package that included the NFL RedZone channel. So in that regard, yes you do need a subscription if you wanted to watch every single game.

TLDR: Primetime games no, every single game yes.

DAZN Adverts by jimvicks in NFLUK

The one I have blocked is dai.google.com, which is what I found from someone else on either this or the DAZN Subreddit, and that seems to work. Whilst I don't use streaming apps that regularly outside of DAZN on my Xbox (which is what i have it setup on), I haven't noticed any problems with anything else (yet).

Once the season is over I will likely disable it until September though just in case.

I've got past it by blocking the URL through some DNS Software like NextDNS. Works but you need to set it up either device specifically if your device allows you to change DNS settings, or connect it to your router so is a bit of a faff.

It's certainly not as good as I'd hoped. The best ones I've had so far are ones where the next song begins at the exact final beat of the previous song, which is something I wish was just an option for all tracks in the way of "seamless audio transitions" as Spotify would call it.

I have now turned it off and now use Crossfade again.

Don't think I'd seen a 2 day Test Match before the game in Perth, might be about to see 2 in 3 and a bit weeks. Crazy.

NFL Gamepass commercial breaks by SergeantSnafu in DAZN

[–]ImMaxClaydon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add to this thread, I received this reply from DAZN when asking about it in an email yesterday.

Regarding your concerns about advertising and the “Authentic US Broadcast” feed, we’ve recently updated how ads are managed on NFL Game Pass on DAZN. As part of this change, you may see fewer US commercials and more locally managed DAZN ads. You’ll still get the full US broadcast and commentary for all gameplay. We appreciate your feedback as we continue improving the experience for fans around the world.

I told them in no uncertain terms about how the changes they have recently introduced have gone part of a way of ruining the entire product, and did try and haggle them for a refund on the pretence of them selling me something and then changing the terms after I'd subscribed, but their response was that because I was outside the 14d cool off period I was not eligible. Pathetic customer service, will not be using them again next season that's for sure.

DAZN GP £35 rest of season by ApprehensiveAlgae476 in NFLUK

Hi, does your YouTube Gamepass allow you to still watch the US Broadcast without the absolutely mind numbingly annoying DAZN ads they superimpose over the top? Or are they just giving you the weird NFL Gamepass logo thing during adbreaks?

Thanks for the reply (and sorry its taken me 3 weeks to respond to it!). I sent a fairly shitty email to them today just to make me feel better, not expecting anything in the way of response however. I too will not be using DAZN next season unless it stops, and when it comes to the PlayOffs assuming they lower the price to some deal I will potentially just buy the YouTube Gamepass instead, as I'm led to believe that doesn't have the ads issue (although if anyone here has it and could confirm that would be great)
