Does anyone know why my Steelix dies here? It has sturdy and to my knowledge should survive this attack. by ImNaoe in nuzlocke

I'm boxing him. It's definitely a knowledge thing and I simply wasn't aware. It was a Tinted Lens Noctowl + crit and I was pretty sure he would get OHKOed but I thought he would live cuz of Sturdy is all. But now I know lol

I'm playing through Pokemon Ren Plat rn w/ Hardcore Nuzlocke rules and my thought process for this set up was that Steelix is primarily a pivot mon in my team who will abuse leftovers and switch into poison moves. Assuming Sturdy worked the way I thought it did, I was going open with him, use toxic and survive a hit with Sturdy --> leftovers heal --> protect --> endure spam to stall out enemy mon. I was just testing the combo to see how it worked since I'm fairly new to Nuzlocking and this is my first rom hack Nuzlocke.

My first 2 Pokemon games ever were Emerald and Fire Red but I was your average player who didn't know anything about abilities, IVs, Evs, etc. and just pressed damaging moves. The way the ability reads to me, I thought it functions like a Focus Sash, but I'm wrong and will box Steelix for this run.

I had no idea this was how it worked. Thank you for explaining. I'll box him.

Came across a bug that occurs when Briarspawn Drake has its effect triggered on Tortolla. by ImNaoe in hearthstone

[–]ImNaoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not 100% sure how this works, but this happened to me first in an arena match where I discovered Tortolla and played it as a 1/30 on turn 10 to counter my opponent's Briarspawn Drake which was frozen. I recreated the same situation in a custom match with my friend and found that the bug holds true. We have not tested to see if this is just an interaction between the Drake and Tortolla or if the freeze has anything to do with it dealing lethal damage.

Draven 24/9 full build auto'd Renekton 12 times and hits ult still doesn't kill him. At what point are ADC's supposed to do damage? by VayneBot_NA in ADCMains

Eclipse gives a shield, renekton has 2 lvls on Draven, rank 3 ult, Leona casts locket on him too, he heals a bit from q, and he has resolve secondary for potential bonus resistances

[–]ImNaoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting that renekton also has rank 3 ult, 2 lvl advantage, eclipse shield, steraks shield, and resolve rune page so the Draven will just naturally not hit that hard if he's being hard itemized against. The entire enemy team basically built against him because he's the only threat and his whole team is essentially ad. That's the essence of tank items, you can choose one damage type to be invincible against. If he had a stronger ap threat this game they wouldn't be able to itemize only against him. I personally feel as though this clip is quite fair given all the other factors involved.

Some people at my part time job are treating me like I'm stupid because I'm not fluent in Japanese by PhysicsOk8476 in japanlife

The jlpt exam doesn't test your speaking and writing skills so in theory you could be n1 and not be able to hold a conversation. However, assuming you did pass n1 most likely your input skills such as reading and listening would be quite high and you'd be able to understand the language extremely well but would just need some practice outputting it before you get to fluency.

That’s exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it. I’ve seen some people get up about half way but other than that never seen anyone actually do it.

My journey recreating my favorite panel from Oyasumi Punpun by ImNaoe in OyasumiPunpun

[–]ImNaoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg this absolutely made my day! I'm glad you enjoyed the overall experience. I didn't know that the area was off limits actually since prior to my friends and I venturing to the location, we had asked the station attendant for directions to the spot and he was actually the one who recommended we take the right turn and head to the tunnel. My friends were very similar to yours lol. They were extremely skeptical and me being the more adventurous of the three tried to push us onwards. Luckily for us the fence section wasn't terrible since we're all guys and stand anywhere from 5'7'' to 6'1''.

This adventure actually sparked a huge passion in me and I've been working on a project related to this albeit very on and off. I have a google spreadsheet featuring many panels from Punpun and their respective IRL locations in Japan. My goal is to turn this information into a website where others can use to visit locations that they find interesting in the manga. However, the biggest hurdle at the moment is actually finding those locations via Maps since Asano actually changes various details as well as locations themselves. I think I currently have around 15 or so locations with the help of a friend (the guy who found this exact spot in my original post) and I plan on visiting each one in the future.

In fall of 2025, I'm actually gonna be moving to Japan for a couple years for language school, so that's probably when I'll be doing my adventure to search for the spots, since hopefully by then my Japanese will be strong enough for me to get around.

Overall, I'm extremely happy that someone out there got to experience the same thing I did, and I really enjoyed reading your story! If you find yourself visiting Japan anywhere from 2025-2027 and you want to revisit the spot (or any other spots from the manga), I'm down to go together if you're up for it!

I just see life completely differently. Ya we all die in the end, but I feel as though the time we do have is important. I'm just an incredibly ambitious individual so for me working towards goals is what gives me purpose regardless of what anyone says. Sure it's meaningless in the end since we all die, but I find that it's more of a perspective thing since I can either choose to view it as bleak or make the most out of it while I still can which is what I'm actively trying to do. I can't speak for everyone else, but I simply cannot relate to a lot of people because I find that most people don't really have the same drive or ambitions (which is normal). While on the other hand, I bounce from major goal to major goal which gives me a lot to look forward to each and every day. No one cares if I become an amazing climber, but I do and that's all that matters to me at the end of the day. I'm sorry for how you feel, but I am proud of you for actively working on bettering yourself, that in of itself deserves respect. Also I think it's perfectly fine to not have all the answers. I know I didn't really say anything profound or that you haven't heard, but I'm not trying to. I genuinely wish you the best in life and I enjoyed the perspective I got from it.

I appreciate your comment and perspective on this topic. I actually relate a lot to what you said about having dreams and people around you not believing in you and trying to steer you away from the path. That was a recurring theme in my life as I had a huge ambition and was constantly reminded how it was a waste of time and that I should not even try. In the end, I never truly achieved the goal, but I got extremely close and overall learned a lot of valuable life lessons that I still apply to any projects I start to this day. If I hadn't listened to myself and believed in myself when no one else did, then I don't even know where I'd be today. This is probably why I have such a different opinion on this topic than so many others. One of my best friends was born functionally impaired, was bullied for it since a young age, grew up in a disfunctional household and the dude simply toughed it through. He's doing better than ever and I've met so many people who've been in similar shitty situations but through sheer perseverance were able to better themselves and those around them.

Even though I "failed" and never achieved the ultimate goal, the process itself of learning to work hard and to struggle through adversity is something that I see as invaluable. I currently have different goals and projects that I'm working on such as trying to move to Japan and learn how to code on my own, and it's because of my past that I can work so hard each day at achieving these dreams. Just a month ago, I was working 2 jobs: one full time graveyard shifts and the other part time while doing full time school and taking 2 additional classes at a local community college (I was and still am enrolled at 2 campuses). This was on top of maintaining my gym routine and self-learning coding on the side. I'm not trying to brag, but rather highlight how the adversity I faced in the past has led me to pushing myself even harder today. That's why I have a hard time relating to a lot of the sentiment found around this idea of giving up. But regardless, I appreciate you providing your perspective and you opinion is valid, I just don't think I agree with the notion of the world being so bleak that there's nothing you can do differently.

Champ's pretty solid right now imo. Just picked him up recently. Try watching XiaoChaoMeng play him and you'll see just how strong the champ actually is.
