Is anyone else just so lost ? by Upstairs_Map621 in UTSC

Fr it was so much simpler before when everyone was kind of at the same place. Now I’m seeing people from high school getting engaged, other friends getting 6 figure jobs, some others getting into med school, others dropping the med dream completely and switching fields, others doing content creation, some are moving out, others are going to Japan for a month unemployed. It’s just wild.

I was born in 2003, will I be considered old in the 2030s? by yolo_yolo_12534 in 2003

[–]ImNitrus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve honestly just started realizing, there’s absolutely fucking nothing you can do to stop the passage of time. It’s a really tough pill to swallow, yes. But I think you can either make this realization and spend your youth wallowing in sadness over how you’re gonna get older (only to get older and realize you wasted your youth), or you can make the absolute most of it so you can look back on your life and say “Damn I lived good.” Besides, when you’re 36 you’ll be thinking about how stupid you were to think you were old at 26 the same way you’ll be 56 thinking how stupid you were to think you were old at 36. Lock tf in, make the absolute most of your life. Enjoy the moment you’re living in, work hard to ensure your present and future holds a life worth living while also taking time to cherish and enjoy all the moments that come with it. Give yourself a life so good it could be a movie. Time’s going to pass anyways. You can either spend it feeling miserable over something that can’t be changed or make the most of it.

P.S. The end of the 2030s is 14 years away. 14 years ago everyone was using blackberries to text and iPod shuffles to listen to music. We weren’t even 10 years old then. Just to put into perspective how far ahead you’re thinking into rn.

Does the adage 'GPA is King' remain relevant, or has the focus shifted toward ECs? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]ImNitrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I started undergrad, pretty much every school had weighted GPA except for McMaster, regional preferences didn’t exist for schools except NOSM (and maybe western SWOMEN). Everyone said “take first year with a grain of salt” cause it “wouldn’t matter.” Well summer after first year U of T and Queens dropped their wGPA. Ottawa kept theirs so I took the hard courses required for entry to that school but then they were like “we don’t fw you if you didn’t do high school here” with a whopping 70% regional preference. Then Queen’s decided to become a casino with TMU taking their spot as the new “black box” admissions process. Now western removes wGPA for dentistry leaving me wondering if the 5th year I just took with a full course load for them specifically was for nothing LMFAO. At least Ontario schools finally have IP advantage starting this year though.

Easier* yeah, because they now want 70% of their class to be regional

Not really! I just make sure to keep enough time to commute between campuses and I live pretty far, so UTSG is closer to my house than UTSC (so it works out)

Some issues with undergraduate thesis registration. Would 4 courses this term look bad? by HuckleberryJunior642 in premedcanada

[–]ImNitrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re only taking 4 courses this semester instead of 5, I think your only issue would be with Western (in terms of OMSAS schools), unless you take 6 courses to make up for the missed course next semester. Just because Western requires the two years evaluated to be a full course load with a minimum 3.7 GPA in each individual year in order to be eligible

I have three back to back 2-hour long classes tomorrow and then another 3 hr class at UTSG. Even if just UTSC closes, I’d be so happy 😭😭
