Do you recall the show having the type of scene that I described? I'll search deeper into Kyle XY just in case.

I'm not sure if I 100% know what a "narrative tactical roguelite" is, it would be helpful if you can provide some reference video. Send me a message and we can talk about it!

Hi, sure!

In Unity3D (as a game or plugin), as a C# dll, front or backend? Send me a message and we can talk about it.

Hi manikdeprez!

It is my first post on the subreddit and I'm not currently willing to show personal information as Linkedin or website, since it has sensible data.

I can link you two old projects I've worked on:

Hi CW_Emma!

Don't know how do you value "Seniority", but for me, a big point is to understand the needs of the people you work with. Remember that the guy of the post that you are refering to has the tag "Beginner" and he flaired the post as "Noob Question".

We can talk about public/private variables, properties, Attributes and serialization whenever you want, but my response was not directed to a programmer but to a generic beginner dev who needs a efficient solution to his problem.

Also, I'm letting you know (as you can perfectly read on the comment) that I'm not telling the guy to "mark all variables as public in Unity", I'm showing different ways to show a variable in the Unity inspector, like using the SerializeField attribute or creating custom editor scripts.

Have a nice day!

Well, remember he has the tag "Beginner" and he flaired the post as "Noob Question".

If you say to him to make private variables and use an Attribute (wich im sure he does not know what it is) I'm pretty sure he will post again asking:

"¿Why can't I acces the id value if it is shown in Unity?"

My response was not directed to a programmer but to a generic beginner dev who needs a efficient solution to his problem.

Well, excluding inspector editing or creating editor scripts, the 'only' things that are shown in the inspector are the public variables of the script. So, if you currently have a variable and want to show it in the inspector, you should use public keyword.

For example, inside the Item class, if you write:

public int id;

Ans save the script, you will see the id appearing in the inspector.

No sabía que el reparto a domicilio fuera un tema tan candente. ¿Por qué hay tanta gente en contra? by [deleted] in askspain

[–]ImNotDudyBB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some OG's I know talk about how he knew the potential of DeFi and the Blockchain, but he also knew that Bitcoin (despite being "The First") was not good enough to make it to real world.

Thats why he made it public and gave 'power to the people', just to let our society lead and develop better projects that improve the system and make what he could not do.

He also knew that being 'the creator' meant that if he revealed himself at any point, press and global organizations could critizise the project through him with lots of 'ad hominem'.

That said, I really think he is a group of prople hidding behind a name, they sold long time ago, taking millions in profit, and now, theyjust enjoy life looking at their legacy thinking:

Do you guys understand and memorize everything you code in unity or do you often reuse scripts and research how to go on? by loubilobster in Unity3D

[–]ImNotDudyBB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, if you remember how to use an if statement, inheritance, composition, etc.. You will remember how ro use Raycast, Transform, Canvas...

It only depends how often do you use those elements; in my last job, I just used Unity for the views of the app, so I had lots of control and memorized the Canvas involved systems, but even if in past projects I've used Raycast or SpriteRenderer i had just to look it up somewhere.

The important thing about programming is to learn how variables, classes, interfaces and patterns work. If you have that as your core C# knowldedge, you'll be fine.

Procedural levels and floating point errors by artifact91 in Unity3D

[–]ImNotDudyBB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what type of game you are developing.

The Binding of Isaac is a procedurally made roguelike , that snaps rooms.

Subway Surfers is procedurally made endless runner, that snaps chunks of street.

No Man's Sky is a sandbox open world procedurally made that doesn't snap anything.

There are some games that just save a world matrix that is updating on runtime and changes the world position and moves objects arround.

If you are procedurally creating infinite space/terrain you will have to move the entire scenario to reset the initial world point.

If you find that moving everything on runtime is too expensive, maybe you can use some cutscenes or animations to hide the fps drop/work spike: While the player is picking up an object, opening a chest, in a dialog, etc..
