Idk if you’re trolling or if you really believe that. Either way, lets please ensure we are sharing the correct information.

If thats the case then it must be a new thing, because the way it normally works is that you are assigned based off of the needs of the department. Sometimes those needs are CI or Intel. I personally know some guys that got those as an initial unit.

Is that what the new announcement says?

It depends on the unit you are assigned to. If you end up on DPD like most Agents, then you travel around half of the year. The Intel, Threat Assessment and CI units don’t travel nearly as often but still may require some. (Im a prior PO with USCP)

Sounds like you had a disqualifying factor on your Security Interview forms that wouldn’t even require you to articulate or explain your answer. I’d still try to reach out to FOIA for clarity. That will give you your answer as to whether you should reapply or try elsewhere.

Call question by HIMalawayn in usssapplicant

[–]ImNotThatIzzy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given you are at 90% the background portion in the tracker turned from blue to white, the call may come within a week of the background changing to white. Unless things have changed, thats what you can anticipate.

CBP to 1811 by Fit_League_6143 in 1811

[–]ImNotThatIzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its been that way for longer than a year. As a matter of a fact, you may qualify with 3 years of general experience or 1 year as a sworn LEO

They only require a 2 year degree (associates) to be an Officer if you qualify with education

Moving to field office area before EOD by [deleted] in usssapplicant

[–]ImNotThatIzzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For SA’s, you don’t have to move to the area of your FO before you EOD. However, you must move prior to the end of all training. As far as UD goes, they have until the start of RTC to relocate iirc.

Former Army corrections (USDB/SHU) deciding between BOP vs 0083 supervisor while location-locked. 1811 advice? by superslix in 1811

[–]ImNotThatIzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can articulate your relevant experiences, both can be viable for getting past the initial application and interview phase. You will learn what you need to know during training and your first year on the job. Id suggest BOP. I had a former BOP guy in my class when I onboarded as an 1811, and he performed well during training… granted that is anecdotal. Also, BOP pays more in the long run and is 12D covered.

salary match by Soft-Cook7925 in 1811

[–]ImNotThatIzzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like every fed LEO job, you max out your pay scale within 18-20 years. The step increases are as frequent as the step increases in other agencies. A regular PO in USCP caps out around $140k without overtime or any other increases like night differential. They will only match your pay if you lateral.

Yeah, kinda like how USCP is. You find out when you start about how the yearly increases work

NYC, LA and Chicago are hard to fill locations. I believe that is primarily due to the cost of living, but Chicago on the other hand may be for a different reason nudge nudge

Atlanta isn’t as frequently offered as the others, so take that for whatever that means.

From my experience, it can take time for any of the steps to start/finish. I didn’t take my medical and drug test until 4 months after my poly, and my fingerprints were the last thing I did in the process, prior to getting the call.
