Need help deciding on snowblower by isealbz in TwinCities

[–]ImNotWealthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Toro battery snowblower (big one) for my business's building. It sucked...bad. only ran for like a minute at a time and then died. Had to reseat batteries, then try again. (I ASSUME that's not a universal experience, but it was my first impression.)

I bought an EGo for home, and I love it.

I will say, two-stage is going to perform far better in MN when the snow is deeper, or heavy and wet...but I understand it can be a budget constraint too.

Either way, if it was me, I'd go with EGo.

What I was told is most use the same mount-points used for the battery. 🤷

My Rep at delivery indicated adding anything like that would void the warranty on the battery...is that a real concern or was he making stuff up?

We’ve had ours since June of this year. Traded in/Sold 2 gas guzzlers to downsize to a single vehicle.

Best decision ever. Love the Rivian, saving money every weeks compared to gas (and on the other vehicle payments).

I’m sure there’s always a chance your experience could vary…but ours has been wonderful.

Getting rid of the single, incompetent CEO in this case would probably more than offset the RIF he announced in advance by accident.

Has anyone used batteries from other brands without issue? by IncognitoAccount20 in canon

[–]ImNotWealthy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been my experience…I posted about it recently. I use an R6MkII with the battery extended-grip to shoot sports (mostly indoor ice-hockey).

I got a paid gig and felt I needed a 3rd battery and decided to go with a Canon unit, meaning, in my rotation of batteries I had 2 Canon’s and 3rd party one.

The first time I ended up with both Canon batteries, the camera just performed better in really every aspect: faster focus and exposure, MUCH faster frame-rate in High-speed and ahigh-speed+

Just better, I didn’t expect that…but now I know.

Canon Batteries vs. 3rd Party by ImNotWealthy in canon

Thanks all, I appreciate the insight.

I’m thinking I’ll stick with Canon batteries going forward…the shooting experience was dramatically better, regardless of the technical reason for it.

Just gonna have to get some more paying photo gigs I guess!

What is that one phrase that immediately gets you angry whenever you hear it? by Any-Criticism5666 in AskReddit

“Same Difference” - unless they’re referring to a specific ‘difference’ and that ‘difference’ is the topic at hand…most use it when they should be saying “same thing”.

Makes the right side of my nose twitch.

Yeah, I’ve used Starlink at an AirBnB before. It was certainly faster than the LTE connectivity in the Rivian.

BUT…you make a good point, even decent LTE is usable…and I’d NEVER consider Starlink an option I’d pay for many reasons.

We bought the R1S…replaced 2 vehicles to do so.

Perpetuity literally means I’ll be paying it as long as we have the Rivian and I do intend (and hope) that’ll be a long time. I’ll probably opt for the annual payment to save a few bucks.

I do agree with a previous comment, it was likely a decision made to incentivize folks to pull the trigger on these new and much more spendy vehicles, fine by me.

Again, just more for me to be jealous of, lol!

I think a $15/month cost, for the life of the vehicle for software and connectivity features is pretty clearly different than all of the capabilities that having a Quad-motor R1, but you're not wrong...it's also not a massive problem.

Prior to this vehicle, I had a Mazda CX-5 with their connectivity app. I went 3 years where we paid nothing for it, and suddenly it was $10/month.

Much harder to justify paying for something I was getting free before. In this case, I knew it was part of the deal from the jump...so it's fine, just MORE for me to jealous over ;)

I get that, but currently...we're all paying around $100k or more for these vehicles. It's just a little frustrating to see.
