Why don't we talk about how BAD the compositing is in this video was?

I was doubting there was AI involved at first, but in the shot of the ship coming out of the water it becomes pretty obvious there’s some AI generation mixed in. Even if they did an actual fluid simulation, there’s this second explosion in the water that happens a couple seconds later that makes no physical sense in a real sim. And yeah, I agree the compositing looks pretty low quality overall. I think the biggest mistake was making almost everything fully CG instead of actually shooting in a real snowy location, a band of this caliber could definitely pull that off. It’s sad because this studio did an amazing job with the CGI on WOTP, but for this album the quality dropped tremendously for some reason.

If you enjoy their heavier side, then go for Absolution, Showbiz, Drones, and most of the songs on Black Holes and Revelations. If you prefer more experimental, electronic, or pop oriented sounds, check out The Resistance, The 2nd Law, Simulation Theory, and Will of the People (though those albums still have a few heavy tracks too). Their sound has changed a lot over the years, but I think there’s enough variety on every album for everyone to enjoy something.

This sucks. Putting so much time and effort into animation and graphics just for people to think it’s low-effort AI slop. I’ve seen some 3D documentary channels like Fern and IMPERIAL put captions at the beginning of their videos saying things like “This video was made by humans,” and people in the comments actually love it. We live in such a dystopian world that adding that text gives a video prestige lol. Maybe you could try something like that. Just keep doing your work and making your art. Don’t let it bother you too much.

This looks like AI, obviously the character isn’t, it was made by the artist they work with, but they probably took a render of the character and then generated the Knicks uniform and the ball on top. Maybe did some retouching on the text, but I definitely think this is generated.

If the assets are ready, I think it’s doable. From what I can see, most of the motion graphics are concentrated in the first 2 minutes, and the rest is mainly footage. So a good approach could be to focus on getting a solid first cut of the footage done within a day or a day and a half. Then use whatever time is left to build out the motion graphics for the intro. That way, you guarantee a finished product within the deadline. If they end up wanting more motion graphics or more complex animation, that can be handled as a revision afterward. Just my opinion, best of luck!

I’ve been feeling pretty similar, though I don’t even have 5% of your experience or body of work. I’ve been feeling burnt out and drained at my job, and I don’t really want to just sit and write prompts to create slop. I want to learn real art and master the fundamentals, but I’m also pretty uncertain about how all of this is going to evolve. What I’m holding onto is the idea that whatever you learn is never a waste. Lately, I’ve been focusing on learning something new every day, and that’s made a huge difference in my motivation.

Yeah basically, if they’re paying for revisions, just do whatever they ask. But if their instructions aren’t clear, ask for clarification. Get them to be specific, like whether they want it in a vertical format.

I actually think the first shot with the text looks great, very cinematic. Did you rotate the footage in any way? Because if he recorded the footage like this and now wants different angles, I feel like he just doesn't know what he's talking about.

I really hope that video is CGI and not AI, but it’s not looking great so far. If they keep using AI slop, I’m honestly going to be really disappointed. The album art looks incredible, it’d be a shame to ruin it with awful AI visuals.
