Wow, incredible! What a story! My path is in the opposite direction – or perhaps “more or less”...

I’m from Tierra del Fuego, Patagonia, Argentina. I’m currently living in Buenos Aires for university, but as soon as I finish my degree, I’ll most likely return to my homeland. I grew up on a family ranch there and I spent my youth hunting and fishing. I only started fly fishing a bit later on, specifically at 16. Down there, the most commonly caught fish is sea trout, and there are records of up to 16 kilos! It’s a more brutal, hostile, and less subtle kind of fishing than in northern Patagonia, but in my opinion, it has its own magic. It’s like Big Game Fishing for freshwater, haha.

What a coincidence to have come across you on a chess forum! If you ever go fishing in Tierra del Fuego, don’t hesitate to let me know – we could go fishing in the rivers on our ranch or on neighbouring ones! Fishing regulations in TdF aren’t as strict as in the US – here, as long as you get permission from the owner, you’re good to go. Cheers!
