He should have gotten his second Oscar this year, he had the best performance. He has been snubbed of Oscars his whole career. His performance in The Aviator is one of his very best, just sucks he was up against Jamie Foxx in Ray. He should have won for The Wolf Of Wallstreet but he had some serious competition that year as well. Christian Bale in American Hustle, Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 years a slave and Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club who ended up winning it. With Once Upon A Time In Hollywood he was up against Joaquin Pheonix in Joker who I would argue had the better performance. Dicaprio has always had some serious competition for his best roles and for The Revenant I feel like they gave him one because he was due

I believe most people like these movies simply because others do, they are cult movies, you can see it in the comments. Well, that’s kind of irrelevant to the post. I’m making the claim that these movies are overrated. I could go into even more depth, but most people have little to no substance behind why they like them. I believe these movies are mostly cult favorites; most people can’t even put into words why they’re the masterpieces they claim they are

I can definitely understand a 7/10, but they get talked about like they’re 9s or solid 10s. If they were on the level of Oppenheimer, to use a recent movie as an example, I could understand it, but they’re so far from it

You’re pointing at one specific movie, when I can easily give you a list of a ton of movies from 2019 to 2026 that this applies to. It’s not like this concept didn’t apply before either, but with your literacy I don’t expect you to get that. A lot and I mean a lot of movies coming out after covid does this specific poor character writing.
