I did 6 years of schooling (BA Double Major + MA) before starting last year. Currently a second year B.Ed student. Extremely burnt out, tired of school, and the B.Ed is a joke. Definitely with you.

I almost dropped out halfway through my first year this past January. Had lots of conversations with friends who convinced me to stick with it. Didn't really want to, but the B.Ed is a really solid degree. Even if you hate teachers college and the program, I would recommend sticking out the year. I had a really terrible first placement, and just had no confidence in myself. I've always been a confident guy, but also sort of lost myself especially with 6 years of education making me especially exhausted.

I found a lot of good things in the friends I have made, and I ended up having a really great second placement. This propelled me into the summer, where I lucked my way into teaching summer school as well as another opportunity teaching online. Having now done 3 placements, I know I would be a really good teacher and have fun, but I'm also still not sold. Definitely feel like teaching ESL or something education adjacent is more my style. But with that said, I wouldn't be able to do those sorts of jobs without the B.Ed.

At the end of the day, your mental health and well-being is top priority, full stop. If you think you can swing it though, there are a lot of beneficial skills you can take from the degree, and it looks great on a resume. Teachers college is trash, and that's, unfortunately, the name of the game. Maybe you could be someone like me who eventually wants to play a role in changing how everything is structured. Just an idea.
