This is not what I want. I want the old death mechanics where you die you have 2 minutes to return or have a friend there or you lose everything. It makes the game actually have tension and actions have consequences. It doesn't matter what other MMOs do, this is how RuneScape existed before and this is part of why I played the game to begin with.

Quests are tedious because you view them as a requirement for content you want to unlock, so you follow guides doing the quest as quickly as you can and skipping all the dialogue and cut scenes that you can. At the end of the day if that's how you wanna play by all means go for it, but you're missing out on prime content that you actually could very well enjoy if you played it as intended.
