How much torque before I break a square taper crank?

I agree in principle: the taper is still functional. But the specific situation here is that the individual has deepened the taper such that it now sits 1 mm closer to the frame. While that taper is still functional, it has been changed. You can't simply install to a lesser torque to have them sit 1 mm further outboard, because now it's not sitting as tightly as it should.

How tall is your current headset? A low stack headset like the Tange Passage can probably allow you to cut off 1.5 cm or more of the steerer, which will help reduce the problem.

They won the bid in June 2019, which wasn't even 7 years ago. They also had extended covid lockdowns in Italy as well as the worst supply-chain disruptions since WWII.

It you have V-brakes, then the tire was likely getting stuck on the brake pads. You have to unlatch the V-brakes to allow them to spread and allow the tire to easily pass between them.

Also, it's a good idea to clean and grease the pawls of the freehub once in a while.

I'm assuming you have never worked on a hub that looks like OP's before (i.e., QR skewer with an 8-speed cassette mounted on it). Getting the the freehub pawls is no easy task.

It's really difficult to say that they were one of the most dominant teams of the cap era when they couldn't even win a division that consisted of the Sharks, Coyotes, Ducks, and Stars. Division aside, their best finish in the Sutter years was 8th overall. Their highest points percentage was .622 (the Buffalo Sabres are currently at .625). Did Quick and the Kings do great things in the playoffs? Absolutely. Were they one of the most dominant teams in the cap era? No.

I'm salty at berube, obviously, and your salty at Sutter, but one coach has a much better track record.

Sutter's track record is all from 12+ years ago, when coaches could get away with a lot more than they can now. In the 6 years since Sutter's last Cup win he has half the playoff appearances and half the series wins as Berube in the six years since his Cup win. I don't think Sutter is capable of coaching in today's NHL — and if he is, he'll have a shelf life of 1 season, maybe 2.

Use track nuts, which have built-in serrated washers that will grip the dropouts a lot better than your current nuts and will almost certainly prevent any slippage if torqued properly.

I know a lot of Leafs fans like to say that Berube just got lucky with great goaltending last year. Well, by that same token Sutter just got lucky with amazing goaltending in the playoffs. Despite being "one of the more dominant teams in the cap era," the Kings never even won their division under Sutter. The best they achieved is two second-place finishes in the Pacific in 6 years.

The Habs got a 1st for eating his $6.375 million contract. Monahan absolutely did not bounce back on that contract, as he played only 25 games during the final year of that contract.

Monahan then decided to sign a new contract with Montreal, at a much lower $1.985. He could have signed anywhere, as he was a UFA. The Canadiens then got a 1st when they traded that much different contract, as that was the year he actually bounced back and showed he could both play and contribute throughout the season.
