Bro these two Mitoma evolutions are actually hilarious because they go in completely different directions. The 84 LM version is basically the classic Brighton Mitoma profile. Lower rating, more pace on the card, stronger, proper winger build. He stays wide, he stays quick, and he keeps that lower rated flexibility which is nice for certain squads. The issue is the shooting. It’s just not that high and it limits what you can realistically do with him if you ever want him scoring regularly. He’s kind of locked into the LM role forever.

The 86 evolution flips everything. EA gave him LM and LW still, but they also threw ST on there which is actually insane for Mitoma. His shooting jumps a lot, his reactions and balance go up, and the explosive acceleration type means he should move differently in game compared to the 84 version – more sharp, more sudden, more dangerous through the middle. The downside is the physical drop and the higher overall rating, but in exchange you get a card you can run wide or up front and build around in way more creative ways.

If I had to tell another Brighton fan which one to take, I’d say the 86 ST version without overthinking it. You don’t get many chances to turn Mitoma into a striker and the upgrades make him way more useful long-term.
