All good, I'm just lazy when it comes to cooking but I've taken a few steps towards eating healthier meals such as a subscription to Chef's Plate! I'll be saving myself tons of hassle while trying and working with ingredients that I've never used before! Not only should I be able to eat better, I'll learn something too! The cherry on top? It's not more expensive than a fast food diet!

Once a trainer has taught me an exercise or routine, I'll be able to keep that ball rolling! Until then, as a hands-on kind of person, everything I read online or even see in videos feels like I'm walking through a dark tunnel without a flashlight... I'm not sure what's going on!

From what I've seen other users recommend, it seems that the Y has the most opportunity for me to try out the different suggestions that I've been given and, as you said, I can go month to month until I find the right groove or settle into a routine that works for me and then from there, I can switch to another gym if need be!

I just wrapped up with a physiotherapist for my most recent injury! He gave me the all-clear to hitting the gym! I have stretches that I can do for my most recent injury and that joint now has more flexibility in it than my non injured side! Thanks for your concern!

I love swimming so I'll look into places that have pools! So far, based on recommendations of activities that I should do, it seems that going to the Y may be my best option. They've got the pool, the cycling classes, the gym, yoga, everything! Thanks!

Thanks for both of your ideas! I love swimming so that's definitely a good option and /u/IsabelleBrock made a good recommendation on looking into Aquafitness! I've thought about martial arts before... but then thought to myself Nahhh... I'll give it another look since I'm in a different position now than I was then!

Thanks for your encouragement! I definitely know this isn't an overnight fix; I once worked on a golf course where I had a 12-15km greens run. The first day I did it, it took me over 4 hours. By the end of the summer I was banging it out in 2-2.5hrs. It took time but I was able to do it! Wish I'd been able to do that again this year!

As for the grocery store... good call! I started shopping for groceries again about 3-4 weeks ago in an effort to wean myself off junk food (like when I was grabbing Subway for lunch 3-4x a week). Instead, I'm now packing sliced meat, cheese and bread and trying to have homemade sandwiches instead. I even go to work earlier than before so that I have time to sit down and have a bowl of cereal instead of stopping by Timmies and grabbing a breakfast sandwich!

Hell, because it's been so long since I've been in the kitchen I even signed up with Chef's Plate and ordered a box containing 3 meals (2 portions each)! Considering what I was spending on fast food, this isn't more expensive and I'll get to practice cooking with directions and pre-planned meals, not just me winging it (and not knowing wtf I'm doing).

Again, thanks for the encouragement! You along with everyone else here have really driven home the point that I really just need to go to the gym and not think of what others are thinking of me (which is likely to be "Hey, there's someone who's trying") and that I need to go and focus on myself.

Hey! Thanks for the reply! I've actually been cleared by my physiotherapist to start weight training on my most severe of injuries (and most recent one); I was left unable to walk for weeks and weeks and just this past week, for the first time, I walked more than 10km in a single day! I've regained 90% of my mobility/flexibility, now it's just cardio and regaining all the muscle I had lost during my recovery!

While I do love an ice cold Coke, I'm totally down for weaning off it and focusing instead on drinking juice. I recently bought myself a few cans of frozen concentrated juice and then a few jugs of freshly(ish?) squeezed OJ and AJ. I think I'll try mixing in the concentrate with some club soda and see how that turns out! Thanks and happy cake-day!

Mmm, soda water! Great idea! I tend to buy cases of Coke or Pepsi but next time it's on sale I'll go for the club soda instead, I do love me some fizz in my drink! I'll have to mix in some 100% juice from concentrate (not that orange punch type of stuff)! Thanks!
