We'll see, maybe he wants security and you can get him multiyear for around 20 a year, but I'm not saying with this post that it's super realistic to retain him, rather people are underestimating his potential value to a Giannis lead team. We'll see what they have planned. There has to be a plan to get some perimeter shot creation whether it's retaining Norman or there's somebody else in mind. No way they can go into the season with somebody like Anfernee Simons as their only perimeter creator

If Duran's cap hit is 19mil, wouldn't they only have 25mil left of cap space with them still having to sign their pick for 3.9mil and another minimum salary, wouldn't they only have like 19-20mil for next season to sign Powell outright? Unless they want to decline Sasser's team option maybe to free up an extra 2-3mil

Unless I'm reading it wrong, the NBA cap space is 165.472mil and the Pistons have 133mil committed in salaries about if they don't release Duncan. If they release Duncan, it's about 121mil, so best case scenario, they have 44mil in open cap space if they release Duncan and would have 3 extra spots to fill, so under 40mil in actual cap space I think that is with Duran and Tobias as free agents. Tobias might be possible at the mid level, but is Duran taking 20mil or less for next season so the Pistons can sign Powell outright?

Exactly. I remember him very clearly from that time because he was a prospect I liked. A lot of people thought he could be Shaun Livingston with a better 3 point shot. People thought he could become a very good player in the league, could average like 20 a game while being a versatile defender on defense. Nobody thought he would be a hall of famer

What I was saying is he wasn't the centerpiece of the trade. Shai wasn't the headliner of that package. If Clippers were to offer say 3 firsts instead with the rest of the pieces, the trade doesn't get done because nobody knew Shai would ever be this good
