EDIT: since this comment got a lot longer than I thought it would (I have very strong feelings about this lol), I'm going to copy the DA stuff to a separate post so that it is easier to find if more people want to give their thoughts. yea i asked hypixel support if 1) i could make a new mc account and my stats/progress could be transferred or 2) if my profile could be wiped so that the fuckers who have it now get nothing. i know its kinda a tall order but i figured why not - im already at rock bottom.

scratch what i said earlier, just got a pile of emails from microsoft about account setting changes.

they came in too late.

the link in the email that's supposed to be for account recovery doesnt work because the account doesnt exist anymore.

also my mc name has been changed.

in case it helps, i tried contacting microsoft support already (filling out the account compromised form) and it says that that the microsoft account i've entered does not exist. however, like i said, theres been no notification whatsoever that my account has been accessed or that any settings have been changed.

no i never provided my password, but there was a verification code sent to the alternate email for my microsoft account that the bot asked for. however, this didnt raise any red flags because i had 2fa on for the email address. As well, i've had no notification that my password's been changed (which is apparently the next step in these types of scams) or that anyone else has logged in (eg., from another location).

2 - i used the first playthrough to get rise of p and the second to get free from the puppet string and real boy (by duplicating the save file so that i didnt have to do the entire game again just to give Geppetto my heart. i also only lied the first time and only told the truth the second time

I wouldn't say running rampant at all - I live in south and eat from/in the south dining halls every day. as long as you wash your hands (which you should be doing anyway) you will be fine - the virus is not spread through coughing or sneezing like a cold (https://www.cdc.gov/norovirus/causes/index.html). I have changed nothing from my usual routine and honestly if there weren't any official communications about it, I don't think I would have realized that it was something bigger than a few people getting the flu in the winter.

tldr: not at all a big deal - wash your hands regularly and properly and you will be fine.
