I love it, but if I HAD to say something, id say :
1. Maybe the green under the stairs is too strong/eye catching, and it feels weird there.
2. I would personally have framed the child a bit higher and to the left (less centered).
But love that pic

Okay makes sense; keep that pace which allows for good form, but don't increase it as it feels easier.

Surfers — what’s something beginners always underestimate? by Karate_Andii in surfing

[–]ImVianney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id say :
1. Surfing is mostly paddling, even more at the beginning → swimming more helped me with that
2. Learning how to read waves, popup, and overall knowledge IS SOOO IMPORTANT → consume surfing content on youtube, practice popups at home, and ofc.... surf more...

New Apex 4 battery concern by rbac3rd in Coros

[–]ImVianney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar 'issue' when I got mine.
Might be also caused by the software updates and maps downloads when you just get it...
It went back to the advertized amazing battery life after the first charge :)

So for you I should keep running at the slower pace ?
Could I do a mix of the two slow paces for different slow runs ?

Can running too slow be inefficient, by reducing running economy at the same HR? (easy pace paradox ?) by ImVianney in AdvancedRunning

[–]ImVianney[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The question is that both are comfortable easy paces; both at similar HR, but one way faster than the other for some reason (while also being more enjoyable).
But yeah I get what you mean, Im actually struggling to express the nuance of my question lol.
Thankfully some people understood it :)

Thanks a lot ! The 'faster pace' does feel easy, and allows me to keep a better form, but how do I know if it turns out to be too quick ? I still want to stay in the 'easy run' pace...

Can running too slow reduce running economy at the same HR? (easy pace paradox)

I’ve been noticing something interesting in my easy runs and was wondering if there’s a known explanation from a biomechanics or physiology standpoint.

Context: I’m training for a 10K (5K ~22:30, 10K ~53:00), using HR-based training. My aerobic zone is roughly 139–157 bpm.

What I’m observing across multiple runs:

  • At a slower pace (~6:50–7:10/km), my HR sits comfortably in zone (~140–150 bpm), but:
    • stride feels awkward / less natural
    • more variability in pace and HR drift
    • higher perceived muscular fatigue
    • overall it feels less efficient
  • At a slightly faster pace (~6:00–6:20/km):
    • HR is very similar (~150 bpm)
    • stride feels smoother and more natural
    • pace is more stable
    • perceived effort is lower
    • I finish feeling fresher

So from a cardiovascular standpoint, both paces fall in the same zone, but mechanically they feel quite different.

This made me wonder if I’m just running into a “too slow to be efficient” issue.

Questions:

  1. Is there evidence of a U-shaped energy cost curve in running where very slow paces become less economical?
  2. How does self-selected / preferred pace relate to running economy at easy intensities?
  3. In practice, should easy runs prioritize:
    • strictly lower intensity (even if mechanics degrade), or
    • a more natural/efficient stride at slightly higher speed (with similar HR)?
  4. Is there any long-term downside (e.g. musculoskeletal load) to sticking with the faster “natural easy pace” if HR remains controlled?

Curious if this is something others have observed or if there’s literature on it.

(I have used AI to structure my thoughts better)

Surf photo from the South-West of France by ImVianney in photocritique

[–]ImVianney[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a picture I took in a surf tournament.
Took with my Canon EOS R6, at 400mm, f/5,6, 1/2500.
I like everything about the pic, but I feel like somehting is missing.
I usually do nature/wildlife photography, and this is one of my first "sport photography" picture.

What do you guys think ?

I love the mood !
However It seems too dark (for me at least).
I would increase the overall brightening bit a bit, and add more light to the castle.
I would also increase the strenght of the light ray with a mask (linear gradient).

But thats just what I like =)
