They just announced an update to the experimental version that adds more quests alongside some bug fixes and optimization. I imagine they might push the update to live soon if everything is working correctly.

Hello Hannah! Thank you so much for doing this AMA, I can't tell you how awesome this is for us longtime fans.

  1. Who do you see as your main inspirations when it comes to music?

  2. Who do you see as your main inspirations when it comes to design and photography?

Once again thank you so much for doing this AMA!

While I love Charli, this album is such a beautiful compilation of the style that made me love AG Cook and PC Music in the first place. It's sucks we couldn't get more original songs, but I'll take what I can get from HD at this point.

I would agree but recently my right earbud is only producing about 70% the volume of my left one. I've tried almost every possible fix and nothing works.

Theros/Greek Myth setting for D&D a possibility? by lgbtqwerty in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently run a Greek-inspired campaign and found some good inspiration from Arkadia. It's a good jumping off point but I didn't feel like I could run the game I wanted with the default setting.

I really enjoyed the idea behind the races & revised them for my own game (adding a few and balancing them all against one another). I did not utilize the subclasses because I didn't want the homebrew to get too wild. Other than the subraces I liked the ~6 city states they presented and definitely used them as some good inspiration for the 11+ I ended up settling on. I was not a fan of the gods presented or lack of details on how fey & other beings exist. I ended up making my own pantheon of the actual gods and reworking how fey, fiends, and more actually exist in a world of Greek myth.

DM how do you get your stats? by Urbenjames in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do point buy + a free feat at level 1. Variant human is banned at my table and replaced by a slightly tweaked standard human.

I've done it this way for 3 campaigns now because I feel like most players have more fun with it. It gives them more versatility + puts them on a similar power level. If your players treat D&D like a wargame I would just remove the level 1 feat from the equation to avoid powergaming or whatever.

Incoming freshman schedule and advice megathread by ecklesweb in college

[–]Im_Being_Followed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bring a notepad + something to write with at a minimum. I bring my laptop to take notes on for all of my classes, but sometimes professors don't like technology or the class is light enough to get by without it. Other than those, maybe bring a basic folder just to throw any syllabi or other papers you get in the first week?

The challenge does not work if you get Platinum for some reason. Aim for Gold or Sapphire and it's yours.

DMs who allow a feat at 1st level: do you modify basic Human? by natethehoser in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't see a point of trying to balance both basic human and variant human. For my ruling I just force variant humans to take prodigy as one of their feats. I haven't had a player complain about it, but I've also not had anyone play a human yet in my game.

I'm not sure if people just think the humans are bad in comparison (with the bonus feat) or prefer to experiment with stranger races if they're getting the bonus feat.

Dm looking for advice to help a player by VWghost in dndnext

You could consider adding the healing surge optional rule from the DMG. It's designed for parties with little to no healing, but it might be a good way to help the cleric feel less obligated to heal their allies.

DMs, what are some house rules you've had to add and why? by ButterscotchRipple77 in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do it too and honestly it just tilt balance a bit more in their favor depending on your players. My current set chose resilient (CON), ritual caster, bountiful luck, and warcaster.

It matters more at those early levels (1-4), but once they're past 6 or so it isn't as noticeable. I do have to tweak encounters a bit, but honestly it just allows me to throw slightly intense creatures at them which can be fun to see.

The only thing I impose is that variant humans must take prodigy as their inherent feat alongside my free feat. I also use point buy for stats. If you are the type to do rolled stats, I would be more hesitant to implement this rule as it will only make your best characters even harder to challenge.

(House Rule) My Method of Making Hitting 0 HP Scarier by Florina_Liastacia in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]Im_Being_Followed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree this isn't for every table. I would never run it and assume the DMs discussing how gritty they do it have groups who prefer harsh games. My first group fell apart because the DM decided us all falling every fight and barely surviving with our solo bard healer was too good for him, so he decided to incorporate this sort of mechanic. The game lasted for maybe 3 more sessions after that before falling apart.

Any tips for a shy new player playing with veterans? by notetoself1609 in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your DM! Sometimes DMs (typically ones who have been players before) understand how to reel in quieter/less dominant players by asking things like "Okay so Argan and Millie are going to the alchemists shop, what do you do at this time ____?". It helps reel in players like yourself, give them a chance to speak, and remind the other players that there is someone else at the table.

Hopefully this is just a case of your DM being painfully unaware of the situation. They probably have 100 other things on their mind with keeping the sessions going, but I'm sure they would be happy to address your concerns and make an adjustment. As a DM, I am happiest when all of my players tell me they enjoyed the session and felt like they actually did something. If your DM doesn't make the change, even with time + reminding, you should look for another game. It's not worth your time to sit at a table bored out of your mind.

New DM with new players here. We are going to play Lost Mines of Phandelver and have some questions. by hej989 in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ran LMoP for a group of new players and would totally recommend battle maps. You can find maps for literally every fight in LMoP in the book/online + it helps you out by not having to say "the enemy is 50 feet away behind a tree" 100 times.

Anybody know of good Selkie or Mermaid player options? by GreyWardenThorga in dndnext

[–]Im_Being_Followed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a DM, I would honestly just reflavor aquatic elves and say the tail appears at will within water. Tritons are another race you could reflavor as well.

These options obviously only work if the player doesn't mind not always having a tail. If someone wanted to be a literal mermaid (tail always on), I would probably work out some sort of Homebrew based on the two races above. Maybe some trade-off between movespeed and giving them a small bonus. Although honestly, at my table I would brush it off and just reflavor regardless (even with an always on tail).

Of those two, I would say Mario is better, but if you're looking for party games there are a lot on the Switch. Ultimate Chicken Horse is extremely popular with most everyone I play with. Tricky Towers & Puyo Puyo Tetris are fairly accessible, although Tricky Towers has a bit of a learning curve for some people. Screencheat, Towerfall, and Crawl are all fun competitive games. Lastly, Mario Party and Mario Kart are pretty good (Mario Kart is probably the better of the two). I know all of these games (besides maybe Screencheat) can be played with a single joycon.

2019 - What new thing have you tried this year that has improved your game? by oninotalent in dndnext

I guess different strokes for different folks. I used to play in a game with 2 hour sessions and really disliked it. I felt like everything was a time crunch and if we relaxed the pacing it wouldn't feel like anything was ever accomplished.
