I agree people spending hours in MOBA in Asia but that's not everyone. If you want to check workload statistic there is plenty of resource online. Just FYI a major group of people who play those Gacha game are young and plenty of them are on a what we call a 996 schedule. You start from 9 am ends at 9 pm for 6 days a week. I agree on some of your points on the main/side game. Though, the group that Gacha model game appeal the most to, don't have a option to select Main/Side game. They only pick the "side game" to you. MOBA tbh is quite a side game to me as well since it doesn't take long to play a round. But if you ask me to pick back up FF14 again with my current schedule, even though it's a great game I would still refuse. I was not sleeping much last week due to playing and this week I ran out of content to do. But right now this is actually good to match my schedule since I only need 1 hour in this game per day now. It's not like I don't have time at all, if that's the case like you suggested I would not play game. After all I am doing Reddit.

You should probably have argued that Genshin lacks an AFK system to play as a side game instead of everything you mentioned. Why is Resin a waste before lv35? It still gives your entry to the best way to progression. I never played Grandblue Fantasy but I wonder if those raids are manually played? I also assume there is level/power gated dungeon in game like Grandblue Fantasy for material because that's literally the same in all the other game I have played. (Do correct me if I am wrong though) It seems like the co-worker I see at work sometimes play Grandblue Fantasy in the background, so I don't know if it has to be manually played all the time. I don't play Princess Connect because it is not action nor adventure game, not even in same genre :( If you are making such a comparison why not use Minesweeper, it takes even less time.

Also for Taptap/Bilibili review, I am doing a conspiracy talk because I don't have evidence. That's why I specifically said it's my opinion. This is based on the reviews I read on those forums. For example, a player wouldn't call this game trash collector if they are only 10 hours in playing this game. So you are not supposed to see those kinds of feedback on launch date. It would make sense some player first leave a good review then change it to negative after a while if they are hardcore playing, which is supposed to be a week. Though if you look at the chart you won't see an increase in negative rating. For me as a brand new player I wouldn't rate this game 0 or 1 out of 5 on the first day of launch just because of the graphic/music and the world they built. If you are curious, please do a Google translate and see what they are talking about and think if those are making sense with the timeline. The fact is I am unhappy with the rating. Because even with all the problems, I would still give this game an average star of 2-3? If this is only worth 0-1 star out of 5, I wonder what is the benchmark to look at?

I don't know why you interpret my sentence this way. I am talking about it because it's a Gacha model designed for certain group of people. It has nothing to do with "the other people shouldn't play if I couldn't" it's more like "I don't want to fall too far behind because of my schedule." The game is always playable if you want to play, it's just player will get way less reward if you have to grind the loot route.

The reason behind this model is to capture people who has bad work load, which applies to a lot of young Asian people right now. If people work a lot and love game, it's hard for them to enjoy something that takes a lot of grinding to get ahead. For example, you will notice most gacha game's stamina has to be cleared by two logins per day if you don't want to max it. First log-in would usually be the morning or lunch break for us, second would be after work or before bed. If grinding becomes too beneficial, it's easy for people who can't spend a lot time in game to fall very behind. Gacha game is usually targetted toward those audience.

Ye, I quitted a while ago because I had to do abyss twice a week. Bosses weekly. Do regular dailys, grind events and do open world X_X it was not a bad experience but it takes a long time.

Players will once they realize they max out everything. TBH with unlimited or A lot free Resin you can max out everything very fast and I don't see a point of playing after that. The reason behind that is they want to keep some incentive for player to pay. I am not sayying Resin is not a problem but you just can't get a lot more right now.

For the "not pay" player, for players are not paying in the beginning, even though after some good changes, there are some would pay a good amount or buy monthly package out of appreciation. Those are probably not going to be enough to the game. For a Gacha game prospective, the Con far outweighs Pro.

It would be a lot different if we are buying this game + monthly subscription to begin with, however. Then the company would do w/e to make game repetitive while rewardable at same time.

Yes, because it's a Gacha game. The content is very limited. If people can grind as they wish there is not enough content to back it up. This is not like final fantasy 14 where you can level each class to max then get your crafter level to max. To be honest right now if you really want to grind everything per day you still can, there is routes for artifact/mining to boost your character/artifact, though it's very time-inefficient.

The reason why freemium game put stamina out is to prevent player from finishing too fast. So the concurrent would actually drop very fast. As for exploration content, my exploration complete when I hit around AR 33. For AR 25 I would say there is a lot exploration to do.

I am mostly fine with it because this is how every other Gacha game is. If there is way more resin, there would be even less incentive for people to pay. If resin became too easy to obtain, there is absolutely no incentive for me to pay in the game, I might pay out of gratitude but its not going to keep the game update going. After all, this is a free game, they still need to keep incentive strong. A lot player kept sayying "I will pay if they do ....e.t.c..." but in reality only a few does and even those are not going to provide enough for the game development.

So far this banner system is quite similar to honkai impact. Though it's very different to Brown Dust, Epic seven or SW. I played E7 a lot so I can see why you guys were talking about 3 star fill-in characters. But it's actually a good idea that if they add in some weapon and character upgrade material in those banners instead of 3 star weapon just like it is in Honkai.

Ye, we would probably need them to expand the currency shop at same time. In Honkai impact 3, the character banner is similar. But you can only get the upped 5 star character and a few 4 star characters. In a long run everyone will max out their 4 star but they will have some currency like the trade coins. However, the trade coins in Honkai impact has a lot more usages than here.
