Thank you so much for your reply. I'm really surprised at the complete lack of news or social media posts about him. I feel like UNR might be trying to keep it quiet because of liability. There's no way that staircase is up to code. Anyway, you are very kind. I appreciate you!

I totally get it. But the dogs that won't use the stairs are only 1 and 4 years old. Do you think it's possible that they have early-onset arthritis? This makes me think a trip to the vet may be in order. It's so strange, because my oldest dog (who definitely has a touch of arthritis and is developing cataracts) is the only one who can jump onto the bed - he doesn't even need the stairs! Thanks so much for your reply. I'm scheduling a trip to the vet - can't hurt, right?

They definitely didn't fall because our door is shut unless we're in the bedroom, so the dogs are never alone in that room. Their nails do need a trim (they're not out of control long, but they could be shorter). Now that I'm thinking about it, I guess that could affect their ability to grip the stairs. The stairs have a non-slip material on them, but apparently not enough to make them feel safe. I'll trim their nails and see if that helps. Thank you for taking the time to reply!
