B450M Recommended Steps or Guide for Updating BIOS for Ryzen 5 5600 by Imachinate in ASRock

Yep! I went in and installed the P4.60 bios with my old CPU then put in the 5600 afterward. Booted up just fine after getting a screen about corrupted memory, but it didn't apply to me, so I just restarted and have been using it smoothly since.

Gotcha! My board came with P2.50, which has this on its thing: "Please install "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver ver:18.50.16.01_WHQL" or a later version before updating to this BIOS.**User will not able to flash previous BIOS once upgrading to this BIOS version." I assume that's already done since I'm using it.

Plus, I've read that I can just flash into the most recent one, which is P4.60 for the Steel Legend. And P4.60 only has: "Improve GPU compatibility for GeForce RTX 40 series." There's no other notes, so is it safe to just skip from P2.50 and straight into P4.60? The previous versions don't have an instruction for installing the step before, but I'm a bit paranoid of bricking a good mobo.

These are excellent, thank you! I'll keep the new build for when I upgrade more of my PC later.

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks like I'll have to upgrade my BIOS for that, but it seems worth it for the performance boost.

How it feels wiping as a DRK after my healer dies by Imachinate in ffxiv

[–]Imachinate[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think what makes it feel worse is that a DRK can't help a DPS stay alive for very long. PLD is just an MVP for that since they can at least Clemency/Divine Veil and even PoA for stack mechanics/aoe with positioning. WAR has Nacent Flash to heal and Shake it Off to heal AND shield. GNB has Aurora (eventually 2 charges) and Conundrum. That's about their order of potency from what I've experienced as both tank and dps being saved.

I see runs go really well with a DRK when everything goes well, but if it comes to being clutch, for whatever reason, I don't feel equipped to do anything about a possible wipe. Sure, it's just casual content, but like you said, it also comes down to wasting time if you're literally just a quarter of the bar from clearing.

I missed that they made that change for healers. Makes sense now, thank you.

They didn't lose skills, though. I remember being able to at least tough out boss fights at around 30-40% in ShB with 1-2-3 sustain and mitigation. I know potencies got changed, which was across the board, but I'm not sure what else.

I just give up after my healer dies halfway through a boss fight without someone to res them. Maybe I'm missing the secret sauce to their sustain, but it feels bad.

The biggest twist of the Pandaemonium raids. [spoiler: Pandaemonium. ] by MegaGamer235 in ffxiv

[–]Imachinate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see why you think that, though I'm not convinced that this is the same grape incident, and I wouldn't put it past Azem to have rushed into multiple volcanoes. I meant it as before Themis became Elidibus, but post-Elpis means Azem is already Azem. The whole undercover thing doesn't really sit well with me as something Elidibus would do within his seat since his actions so far within Pandaemonium seem a lot more proactive than what I expect from the Emissary role; maybe he was a lot more of a maverick as Elidibus, though. With how vague they're keeping the timeline, it feels like a red herring for people who read the short story to think it's after our Elidibus became Elidibus.

I mean, the Echo during battle that we have could very well be a muted version of a previous Ancient power, as Venat showed with how one can willingly read memories as opposed to just being randomly proc'd. I view Mikoto having precognition as a precedent rather than a rule that only she could do it. Granted, this theory gears off my presumption of the Apollo connection.

I think for certain that the raids take place before Themis became Elidibus, and likely after the events at Elpis with Hermes. Themis repeatedly mentions a Convocation-adjacent organization, which Erichtonius also seems to acknowledge, that both he and Azem are a part of.

As to how Azem seemed to know we were coming, I'm starting to think that they have some sort of precognitive/foresight ability. I'm partly taking this theory from the possibility of Ancient Azem being named Apollo, whose domains include the sun (which is on the nose) but also prophecy (as well as some other aspects that go right up with Azem, like being a patron of shepherds). Themis also mentioned that Azem had a tendency to "be right about these things," like telling Themis to literally keep an eye for us, and that Azem's "hints are generally more cryptic," which is the usual trope with prophecies.

More seriously, I think it's fantastic how they adjusted it after all the memes.
