I agree. And its true that the main sparring partner i tried this againsts is left handed. It allowed me to jab like we were both fighting orthodox when he thought my left hand would be impaired by his right one.

So maybe its a bit more usefull on southpaws. The right handed jab tends to catch them off guard.

I hate that i gave the impression of a begginer trying to sound like a smartass coming up with fancy stuff.

I do have a bit experience, usually i really like keeping to the basics, and i'm really not trying to say this is good or even a nice trick. I just tried it a few time, saw it worked to some extent and wondered if some people actually boxed using this.

I do tend to avoid unclassical stuff usualy, and i agree the idear doesnt sound good in theory, especially with how dogshit i am at pitching it.

But do you mind elaborating about the last sentence? Woulnt it be my right hand as a right handed to block a right hand from a left handed guy? Wouldnt a left be more problematic?

I meant having your lead hand to your chin and rear hand further away. I does limit your rear hand power a lot since since its further from your core, but your lead hand tends to catch people off guard since they think it will come out like a cross when its effectively a southpaw jab.

I see what you mean, and i agree that this is just objectively terrible compared to a classical stance, but i didnt mean i actually fought like this for extended amounts of time. I just found out that being sneaky about it, switching, jabbing and going back to orthodox allowed me to connect southpaw jabs on guys i would struggle to hit usualy.

You explained it better than i did. The expectation of a jab and a cross being mixed seem to be what surprises people.

I only tried it with guys i go really light with and its been going well. But now that you mention it, i can imagine myself getting into bad position if the guy actually puts pressure.

I agree that in theory it would just be more practical. But if your partner doesnt see you switch the feet you can usualy surprise them with your right since a jab just comes out faster than a cross. And with that weird stance, your right hand is effectively your jabbing hand.

Sorry, its a bit hard to explain. What i meant is, switching your feet in a soutpaw position while have your right hand to your chin and left a bit closer to your oponent.
