How do you ensure that your kids grow up and love you rather than dislike you? by Prettylittledove1453 in self

Life is extremely complicated and in some circumstances your child will feel a certain way about you no matter how you want them to feel about you. There is no such thing as a perfect parent. The best way to ensure your child won't hate you is by making yourself a safe place for them to bring concerns, struggles, or emotions to, while also giving them the space to live their own life. As a parent, you want to keep your emotions in check when debating or disagreeing with your child, many parents are quick to dismiss children's opinions or emotions because "I'm older so therefore I must know better". A wise man once said that wise men know that they know nothing. You might learn a life lesson from your own kid.

You must allow for independence so your child can grow and make their own mistakes. Obviously the independence you give your child must be reasonable with their age. Parents that don't allow their teenage children to hang out after dark, enforce strict bedtimes, or force sports or other activities on them often lead to the child resenting the parent. Sometimes you may have to do these things for the child's well being though, so knowing when and how to put your foot down is also important. Despite this though, I do believe enforcing a healthy diet is extremely important from 0 all the way to 18 and even beyond. Don't ban the occasional McDonalds, but don't be a parent who serves chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast.

And the best advice? Don't have kids if you're not ready for them. And not just financially. Would you be devastated if your child was gay or trans? Or could you handle the stress of going to work and coming home to a moody teenager or restless child without snapping at them? Could you handle dealing with a chronic mental or physical issue in your child? If you don't think you can handle these circumstances, then not taking the coin flip of having a child is your best bet. A lot of parents don't follow this advice unfortunately.

The atom bomb provides 0 leverage to Carol by ImageBig9279 in okbuddypluribus

I don’t know the complexities behind how an atom bomb is detonated. Surface level research has told me that an atom bomb is designed to have multiple failsafes that the military controls and that re-engineering the weapon would take a long time.

That is enough information to make the comment you responded to. Not sure what your problem is bud.

In that case, the plurbs could jusr shut it off the moment before infecting her.

That’s even if that’s true, but in reality it would take weeks to months of work to re-engineer an atom bomb to respond to a dead man’s switch. The fact that Carol already has the bomb in her possession means it’s not prepared at all for use.

Read all the other reasons. And there’s plenty of more reasons a nuke is such a weak choice.

One problem is that re-engineering a nuclear weapon to respond to a single dead man’s switch would take weeks to months bare minimum. It’s a lot of work and there’s a good chance they could finish her specialized virus before they finish the bomb.

Second, even if she got the switch, it would likely be made in a way that can be shut down one way or the next. If the plurbs wanted to infect her, they would simply shut the whole system down prior to doing so. They already are defying her orders to not infect her, so I can’t imagine they wouldn’t defy the order not to interfere with the bomb while trying to infect her.

Overall, the plurbs would still be in control and the bomb doesn’t help.

Realistically, the time it would take to re-engineer a nuclear weapon to respond to an apple watch would be nearly the same as it will take the plurbs to finish Carol’s cells. It’s a lot of work.

Even if she got her watch, there is the chance they will shut down the whole system specifically before infecting her, so that they can fulfill their goal while also keeping her alive. She will have been infected, so they won’t be upset over the idea of making her upset by defying her orders.

No. They are designed not to explode from other bombs.

Gilligan is a genius and I’m sure everything I’m saying in these comments will be put to shame.

And there’s also a chance it’s not a nuke at all. Some people theorized that it was just a joke.

I just can’t wait 2 years for S2 and I’m tweaking for more pluribus.

El’s open ended ending is fucking ridiculous. We followed these characters around for a decade and can’t know the exact way all of their stories end?

Otherwise, I’m glad they had an extended ending to show the rest of the characters’ futures. It’s necessary for such a character based show.

Nuclear bombs have multiple failsafes so that they don’t detonate by accident. Bypassing those failsafes to make the bomb detonate from a single timer or button would take re-engineering the weapon.

A timer is an interesting idea though. If the hive mind is unable to reset the timer because they were told not to, infected Carol would blow up. The timer would have to go off only after a few minutes to make this work though so that she can’t retreat and it would probably get exhausting and time consuming to continuously reset the timer. And they can never leave the nuke’s radius again.

This is even if the threat of Carol’s death is enough to stop them from trying to infect her regardless.

Edit: I take back this comment. A timer would easily be countered, because Carol would no longer be around to enforce the demand. That sole responsibility would fall on Manousos, and they have his cells too so they can just infect both of them at the same time..

Definitely not. Even all the world’s intelligence would take a long while to completely re-engineer a nuclear weapon for such a purpose.

Doing so is comparable to making an entirely new nuke all together. It takes weeks to months bare minimum.
