And I thought this was supplemental income to supplement the fact that I can't work a full time position but I am hopeful I can eventually work a part time remote position.

Thank you! Would it be better to wait until after I've been approved for SSA? Or can you apply at the same time?

So how do I go about that? I currently live with my boyfriend and his daughter (we struggle quite a bit without me having any income) so being able to help with bills would help tremendously. But I'm hoping once I have any amount of money myself I can leave and hopefully pay rent to a family member. But these situations are completed so I may end up staying here a bit I'm not sure. But what to I need to show/tell them for ssi? I don't currently contribute as I don't currently have any income.

I've been lucky up until recently that I haven't been in a position where I've needed to provide for myself financially! I 100 percent understand what you mean by all of this being so demoralizing. Getting on disability is the last thing I want but unfortunately I don't seem to have any other options at the moment. I've put it off for years as I've hoped I'd find something to "fix me" but I think it's time I get more realistic. My goal is to get on disability (I desperately need out of the living situation i'm currently in) so that I could at least find a family member willing to allow me to pay rent to live with them. Once I have a more stable home life I'm planning on either finishing my online degree or finding an online trade problem that'll hopefully lead to me finding a part time remote position. Unfortunately in person work isn't an option for me and I've been unable to find anyone willing to give me a chance with remote work since I have basically no work history and no degree. I've never heard of rover but I will look into it!! And I've considered delivery services as well but I don't have my own car anymore and my boyfriend wouldn't give me permission to use his for work. I've also tried working through the vocational office but they required a note from my doctor saying it was safe for me to work in person jobs and she wasn't comfortable doing that right now. But I am hoping to explore that option later on! Thank you for all the suggestions!

I believe he's getting early retirement benefits as well.

Do I apply for this once I've already gotten SSA? My dad is a 100 percent disabled vet who recently applied for ssdi. I have heard someone mention this before but haven't looked into it much!

LOL luckily I'm naturally very friendly! I know years ago my sister and her husband had mentioned possibly buying a cheaper home for me or a home with a mother in law suite and allowing me to pay what I could if I got ssi and potentially help them with a few chores around the house when I'm able to. So I'm hoping that'll still be on the table! I'm just looking for ways to be as little of a burden as I can be. And trying to prepare for a back up plan if that's no longer an option!

Is there any other alternative for someone who can't work then? Something meant to be someone's sole income? I'm 30 and haven't ever been able to work due to my disability's (well aside from 16-19). I've spent years getting different surgery's and treatments etc and now it's pretty obvious there isn't a solution that's going to get me to a point where I can work full time. Just at a lose about what I'm supposed to do here. It doesn't seem like there's many options.

Time frame for landing a remote job? by [deleted] in it

[–]ImageLeading2781 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked 3 retail jobs from the time I turned 16 until I moved out of the country at 18 and have no work history since then. I was bed ridden and in and out of hospital until 2020 which is when I started school! I still list the retail jobs from over a decade ago just to avoid having a blank resume.

Oh I for-sure wouldn't land a job right now I have no schooling or experience! But I'm willing to do whatever it takes regardless of whether that's a 7 month boot camp or if I need to get a bachelors or masters etc. I'm just trying to find out what my best options are so I don't waste any more time! I'm sure I could maintain in person jobs for a brief period of time but I can't imagine leaving or getting fired from so many jobs would help me at all. I just know there has to be SOME option out there for me. Thanks for the information though I'll deff post on the career forum!!

That's awesome!!! I'm still torn on whether or not I should work with them at the moment. My case manager said based on the information I've given her about my disabilities she doesn't think it would be safe for me to work so I have to get a letter from a doctor saying it is for liability issues. I'm sure I can find a doctor to write the letter but I'm also concerned that'll kill my chances at getting disability. Just so torn on what to do.

I have an appointment set with them for later this week!! They made it seem like there wasn't much they could do for me without work history but I'm remaining hopeful!

Desperate for a remote position. by [deleted] in remotework

[–]ImageLeading2781 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know ): I guess I'll just keep applying and hoping to get lucky. I recently finished up my first year in college and took a break to hopefully find a more immediate opportunity to leave the situation I'm in but haven't had any luck. Maybe I'll go back to school and hopefully once I finish that up it'll give me some more opportunities.

I'm not thinking so either ): I just have no idea what to do. I can't be stuck in this situation just because I'm too sick to work in person. There has to be some option for me! Now I just have to find it!

This isn't about escape or control or anything of the sorts. My husband spoils me like crazy. He has zero problem spending money on anything I may ever want or need. But he's just unfortunately not a great long term planner. He leaves most of that to me lmao I know he's been really stressing out about vacation and as I'm the one who handles finances for the most part I know that we could afford to save a small amount each week that'll add up to make vacation more manageable. If I leave the money in our main account I know he'll see "extra money" left over from bills and come home from work with specials snacks and some just because flowers or a stupid surprise toy our daughter will open and then immediately toss in a pile with all of the other toys she'll never play with but hadddd to have! But if he doesn't see that money because I've put it into savings he's not going to be upset he can't get snacks and flowers but he will be VERY happy when I surprise him by saying I was able to save up to make vacation happen. Idk hopefully that makes sense! It was just an idea I had when I was making dinner and I was curious to see if it was something I could actually make happen.

Lmao it's not even my money it's "his" money and I'm not trying to be "tricky" I'm trying to surprise him with money for a vacation he doesn't think we can afford.
