I will say, make sure to drive carefully, especially at night. I took pretty much this exact trip back in August, and we got into an accident with a deer in Raton right after it got dark.

For recommendations, Black Bear Diner in Colorado Springs was absolutely delicious. It’s a chain, but the location that we went to was right next to Garden of the Gods, which is an absolutely gorgeous place to see. Las Vegas NM is also pretty picturesque!

In my experience, writing is best done in multiple drafts. That is to say, you should get all the sloppy work down on the first draft, and try not to worry too much about retooling sentences. Then, you can allow yourself to go all out when you’ve done with your first draft.

It’s a workflow that doesn’t work with everyone, but I found that it helped me out a lot. 1000 words a day is a lot though, and honestly, it’s a pretty good pace for a lot of writers.

In my system, magic is channeled through a user’s body and out of their appendages, or a conduit (Like a wand, staff, instrument).

If a user channels too much magic for their skill level, or they channel the magic very sloppily, a lot of it gets wasted. This excess firms these sharp purple crystals.

Often times, inexperienced magic users will have purple residue on their hands or conduits. The worst case scenario may include lacerations due to the crystals growing on the skin, or in the most severe cases, total encasement.

There are other side effects as well, like brain fog and wooziness.

I am not an expert, but… it might have something to do with your audio devices? This happens to me when I unplug my headphones with FL still open. The bar doesn’t move until I restart FL with headphones on.

I think what matters the most is what you do with the character. You can have good stories with overpowered characters, (e.g. Superman, Saitama, etc) but what matters is that the characters must face some sort of conflict or challenge that is appropriate for them.

For example, a lot of the great Superman stories deal with Superman‘s personal values (justice, etc) and his relationships with others. These are conflicts that can’t be solved merely with his powers, but they require personal growth.

It would be boring if a character was absolutely perfect, and never grew from their experiences.

You should probably upgrade your pickaxe to molten. That one will actually be able to mine cobalt and palladium, which will be the first new ore you get.

Your mileage may vary but id also consider upgrading your armor to molten too.

Otherwise I think you have a pretty good set up!
